If you want to know about japanese colors, check http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/colorcharts/stuff_eng_colorcharts_japan.htm here you can have some reference to the colors… about the color schemes… let me know about you Zero version…
Also check out http://www.j-aircraft.com. This is a very good site for researching colors, etc. HTH. Blair[:D]
There are 18 pages of wartime photos of Zekes here:

There are differences between the model 11, 21, 23, 33 and 52. Which are you building?

Great site weejun
Crocket,
Would you mind sharing how you painted the scheme.
Nice model.

crockett- You have got to tell me how you did that paint scheme its unbelevable. Also what kit and scale is that, 1/48 Tamiya, or Hasigawa, Did they make one?

Nothing special about the paint job boys, sorry to disappaoint you, but no black magic involved. Just IJN Grey as a base with IJA green thinned down and shot by hand with the Badger 360. I got tired of seeing Japanese aircraft in the same green “chipped” all to heck, so I researched an found this scheme, 1942 Rabaul, for the type 22.
This the Hasegawa 1/48th Type 22 kit. In my opinion, Hasegawa makes the best zero kit around in 1/48th scale, even tops the Tamiya kit IMO.Steve
Thanks for the sites everyone… and Crockett that is a cool scheme… you made it look great.
Well, when you need paint for your IJNAF/IJAAF aircraft, remember we’ve got 19 accurate colors available in our Colourcoats enamels. You’ll find 'em on our website. No minimum order, and we ship worldwide.

Carefull, John. While I agree with you as WEM being a great source for IJ colors, FSM doesn’t like vendors advertising in these forums.
A similar discussion can be found on this thread about sources for the color of Japanese aircraft at Pearl Harbor:
