Missing those philosophical discussions...

Guys: Either Manny has been out-of-commission or I have been away too much…but everything here is about builds?![sml…] , *od FORBID! Did the new format squelch the old “what’s too rusty” or “what’s too provactive” arguments and debates?..OK, forget the “what’s too much weathering one”, no need beating that dead horse…

I do miss Manny’s off-the-cuff and thought provoking topics though…anyone else thinkin’ the same?

SMJ,

Just to fill you in…

There was a bit of a dust up between Manny and Paints with Brushes (there were a few other belligerents as well, but these were the primary players) in a thread over in Odds and Ends. The thread got yanked and Manny and PwB disappeared. After some careful research (on another forum which will remain nameless) is appears that a one-week suspension was handed down to PwB. The question remains to be seen whether Manny earned a similar slap-down or, because of his past history, he was given a more stern ‘talking to’. It is a little disconcerting to see that his name no longer appears on the list of ‘Most Active Users’, which has led me to wonder if he has been given a more substantial (permanent??) ban.

To answer your original question, yes, I do miss Manny’s threads and his comments. He can be a royal PITA, but as you say, he is often also responsible for posting some of the more thought provoking threads.

Hopefully he’ll be back soon. If FSM did ban him for good… well, that won’t be a good omen, thats for sure…

It seems to me a lot of the older names including myself are a lot more scarce these days. Shame. Things change i guess.

My eyes may deceive me, but I believe I just saw Manny on the ‘Who is online’ page!

If so, Welcome Back Manny!! [blns]

Nope your eyes are good, I checked and well… He is back! [<:o)]

I don’t think it is the older names leaving but trying other things…Karl is over in autos…Espins is over in ships…Wing nut spends time in the wing area…some of the guys who spent a bunch of time here like Dupes are over in GB…Manny was spending time in dios.

Then there are the die hards like Wbill and I.

The old guys are mostly all here…just not all Armor here.

As for Manny philosophy…he was at the pulpit in Odds & Ends. That is where his latest fall from grace occured.

Rounds Complete!!

Browniii: Thanks for the info!

Bodge: Good to see you’re still here!

redleg12: I’m still around too, but like some of the others I’m dabbling in some other modeling interests, mainly model railroad rolling stock and buildings. My Sherman DV box stares[:|] at me daily…patiently waiting for me to get to her[ks]…I sense some model jealousy happening in my stash closet so I’ll need to get that one going soon before I get dumped.

Hey Steve!

I’m still here—well, figuratively speaking–I’m actually in Buenos Aires, Argentina right at the moment. “Working”, as it were…I’ll going to Chile on Thursday–just spent last week in Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte, Brazil. So I’m not modeling right now. [:(] It’s also been a busy Spring, and will be a very busy summer–I’ll be gone another month in June/July.

Like Mike said, I’ve been doing some car projects, and hope to get back to the bench promptly when I get home on Monday!

I agree with you about the discussions, but the front has moved into Odds & Ends, where, as Manny has so recently put so eloquently; “The sniping is a lot more accurate…” lol—gotta love Manny; he NEVER breaks character! [:D]

Ain’t that the truth… It’s almost scary!

After a while the topics get exhausted and everyone takes a break…but the cycle does repeate itself and inevitably will start up again. Never fails. [;)]

People do come and go, some come back more than others, but that too is the cycle of forums. Other parts of the site draw them away to varying degrees…the GB threads in particular tend to do that for example.

Ironically, I don’t spend any time anywhere else but here in the Armor forum so don’t get drawn into the O&E battles. If people post in other areas like Dios the only time I head that wasy is if a link is posted in Armor for example…I just don’t have the time to keep up with anywhere else but the Armor forum. [:)]

Hello ladies…I’m back. Quit ‘yer slobberin’ and sniffling…I got a week for that alleged transgression over in O&E. I did it standing on my head. It is good to be back.

Check closely on my avatar and you’ll see I’ve got my 3rd Oak Leaf Cluster on my Suspension Ribbon…

I’m still here, although I’ve decided to stay exclusively in the Armor forum. I’m currently working on rebuilding a Revell (ex-Renwal) M50 Ontos I bought and built in 1982. I am using an original Renwal kit that was given to me as a gift in 2001. It was little more than a bag of parts, some globbed together with tube cement and other parts untouched.

I’ve taken the best of both kits to recreate my original kit. I did use the outer spoked side of the road wheels to replace the solid-molded inner halves though.

I’m also working on building an MP Models M50 Sherman. Old school kit from circa 1989, but still decades newer than the 1960s era Ontos.

I am sort of still here. have barely been posting anywhere. Worse yet… barley any bench time. Still busy.

And now the added bonus of a temp that has climbed very rapidly through the 100 mark, headed to…? Since I rarely get a fever, like the man said, “I got a bad feeling about this.” [:(]

Whoa, what a relief! I was getting dizzy standing on my head…

doog/Browniii/wbill76/Rob/wing_nut/pordoi and of course Manny: Good to have you guys check in! That wasn’t the jist of this thread but I’m glad it’s evolved into that.

doog: South America?..on tour? You SYRCON bound this year? If so is Jenn joining you again? Did you make an honest woman of her yet?

Browniii: How’s the production going outta’ your workbench?

wbill76: What build # are you on now?

Rob: You gettin’ close to finishing that Sherman?

wing_nut: 100?..do you mean degrees?..in NJ?! By the by, I mentioned your expertise on the Tamiya Buff dusting (toning down) technique over in an M26 Pershing thread started by a guy named maxfax, go chime in if you can.

pordoi: If I recall you were working on a halftrack a while ago…right?..or was that Bodge?

Manny: Once, twice, three-times-a-lady. So what deep thoughts did you ponder while you were doin’ hard time?

Why is the sky blue?

Because the molecule in the atmosphere absorb and then reflect back those colors in the blue spectrum while the other colors of the spectrum simply pass on. Betcha did not expect that from me, eh? [:D] Iz a goods thing me take all thoose fancy scyence classez. [8-|]

Brian

Welcome back Manny, and congrats on the third oak leaf cluster!

Reminds me of an Army bud of mine who got his good conduct award pinned on in the same formation as he was reduced in rank for a weekend DUI! The shame and the honor…
