I posted yesterday for help on an Academy F-16A/C kit missing its canopy, actually missing the entire clear parts sprue. So far, no luck but my fingers are still crossed. I’ve also e-mailed the company and have asked for help in getting one. A few minutes ago I decided to do a little work on the model, telling myself that I’ll eventually have my clear parts to complete the kit and I discovered that there is no “D” sprue either. According to the instructions there are a few parts, not many, so I’m thinking that this sprue is small. At the same time I also discovered that there are two C and two E sprues. One of each is all you need to build the model. So now I have redundant parts, good for screw ups I guess. This is my first Academy model and needless to say I’m not very impressed. Has anyone built this particular model, kit#1688, and if so were there parts missing from the kit? And should I expect to find similar problems with other Academy kits? Any experiences like this from you fellow modellers? [:(!]
Missing a part from a kit is very rare in my opinion but it does happen form time to time. In all the years I have been modeling (30) I have only had a few that were missing parts when I opened them. All I did was write to the company, told them what parts I was missing and about a month later I got a package with the missing part(s) in them. I have even call one company and talked to a costumer service rep and told her what part I was missing and two weeks later I had that part. I have not built that kit you have but have built my share of Academy kits and have never had a problem with missing parts so don’t get discoraged with that brand of model kits. Missing parts are rare but they do happen and unfortunately you happen to get one of those rare kits. I would recommend that you look on the internet for a costumer service phone number and call them or write/e-mail them a letter and tell them what parts you are missing. Every time I was missing a part the company was very receptive in supplying me with the missing part and it wasn’t that big of a hassle either. Hope this helps, Reddog.
That just means you have good luck! If I were you I’d contact MRC because they are academy’s distributor. I’m sure they’ll rectify any mishaps. Good luck!
Thanks Rad for steering me toward MRC. I didn’t know that Academy was distributed by MRC. I e-mailed Academy in Korea and will also send one out to MRC. Thanks again.
