Hi everyone. Just wanted to post that I’ve started my MiniHobby MiL 24 Hind D (1/48). If anyone has any tips he/she would like to share, I’d appreciate it a lot! Thanks.
Hey albert! No tips or comments here but a question. How does the kit stand up to other brands? Have been thinking on and off about buying that kit. Is it ok or are there a lot of problems with it? I think the clear parts are a little opaque but it could be me. Thanks!
you’re right, the clears are a little opaque, but i plan on opening up the canopy anyway so it’s ok. the panel lines are recessed, good and crisp. there is also rivet detail. the pilots’ faces and bodies are well molded, much better compared to some Hasegawa and Tamiya moldings. the detail is overall quite good. there are very few ejector marks as far as i can tell, and those that are there are easily filled/removed. the instructions are clear enough (reminiscent of Academy instructions). also, there is some flash, but what manufacturer doesn’t have flash? the cockpit however, is a huge disappointment. there are no switches and dials and stuff molded there. if they had even provided decals i would have been happy, but no decals for the cockpit either!!! that’s the realy downside of this kit.
IIRC I craked the kit open at Hobbytowne ( I used to be in good with the plastic guy there) and we compred it to other kits. It sure did look like things had been “borrowed” and lifted almost directly from other kits. Their AH64 was a damned near direct copy of the Acadamy kit, but with a slightly different parts breakdown–such as splitting things apart that had been one piece in the Acadamy kit.
Anyway, I avoid both Minihobby and Kangnam kits.
