A couple questions. My first build in 30 years. How much weight should i put in the front end in order for it not to be a tail sitter? Also, suggestions on interior wall color? Not detailing much inside because of what I’m working with but want to paint for the practice! Thx!
The easy way to determine how much weight to use is this. Tape the major parts together and assemble the airplane using tape. Then, place 2 equal height stacks of books side by side the wingspan of the kit apart. Lay a pencil or some type of small rod on on each stack and then sit the temporarily assembled airplanes wings on those pencils in line with the main gear axles. That will give a balance of sorts. Add weight to the top of the fuselage above the nose gear and you’ll easily find the required amount.
In real life, the B-24 was a tail-sitter to the point that a .50cal ammo box was standard equipment that
would be placed under the tail skid when the airplane was parked. Without it, a single crew member walking aft of the waist guns could cause it to sit back on the skid. The kit will be worse because there’s no engines in those nacelles.
You can put quite a bit of weight behind the engine faces in the nacelles as well as under the flight deck against the fuselage sides. It will take quite a bit of weigth.
Interior wall color: Interior green with bare metal on the bomb bay side walls.

The idea is to get the center of gravity ahead of the main gear, and that’s a great way to gauge it.
