This model was completed about two weeks but I just got around to posting it.
This kit was super good. The cockpit was one of the most detailed 1/48 fighter cockpits that I’ve put together. The engine was also fairly detailed but I purchased the basic version of the kit so lots of the engine details had to be omitted for the cowling to fit. Either way I had still added ignition wires to the engine.
The fit was generally good but definitely not Tamiya. My one problem with this kit was on the lower wings and cowling. Near the landing gear bay a large chunk of plastic was missing. It seemed that it wasn’t even molded. The cowling also had a large gash in it but thankfully it doesn’t really show up in the end.
I primed the model in Alclad gloss black primer. I didn’t black base like I typically do but I used the main color instead to do my shading. The main colors are Tamiya olive drab and light grey, though I think the OD is too dark imo. I had some major issues with my paint this time. The paint had very weird cracking. Not entirely sure when it happened, though I suspect it may be from the Tamiya lacquer gloss. This was also my first build using clear UV resin to make clear lens covers. It was a hard process but it was unexpected so I had to repaint the wing tips.
This was an overall good build with a few problems along the way but I think it turned out good in the end.
