Hey Terry…yur slippin up…paddy’s day …sober…next yu’ll be observing Lent… Love the “thing”…yu should have left the whels JCB Yellow…would look like sumttin Bob the Builder would use…now all I need to do is think of a name for it…wonder what weight is in them pads …for real…the original run flat tyre…one can almost imagine the noise of those wheels spinnin in yur model…mind yu dont go deaf as yu twirl them round

Thanks every body for thte great replies. Due to recent events, capnjacksparo’s brother-in -law died thursday, everything is up in the air at work. had to work saturday.

Hope to get some updates soon.

Dear disastermasteer,

thank you for finally killing that wiley wabbit, my efforts were just not good enough…

you trewely are a master of disaster.

Your frewend,

Elmer.

thanks again,

Terry.

I got to put some washes onto the pads/feet and add some metallic finishing. I’m not going to add too much mud, just a lot of dust. I think with the movement on the wheels that mud would not get too much time to gather or stick to the pads.

Pics,

This is wash of burnt sienna and dark brown, it was very dilute and added in layers over a few hours while watching “Two and a half Men” on DVD.

The silver is mithryl silver from games work shop. I will hit the extreme edges with graphite from a pencil. I didn’t realise how much effort was needed to get the silver on and looking right, a simple drybrushing would have looked terrible and just ruined the project.

I’m pretty happy so far.

This shot is for comparsion …

The one on the left is finished with theh silver the one on the right is just at thet wash stage and needs to be given the silver treatment, its ever so slight but is more noticable in the hand.

Thanks for looking,

Terry.

Just absolutely stunning what you’re achieving with the color layering and effects Terry…the contrast between the last two is subtle but makes a huge difference. Going to look great once mounted. [tup]

Man, I just love this. Keep a coming with the updates Terry.!http://www.innovationbyinstinct.com/services/hosting/clients/accountyp/status/DisasterMaster/%23t1-4.jpg

That worn or whatever effect is…amazing, how did you get it to look like that.

Well heres the progress so far.

I hand painted the base coat on the inner bits of the wheels.

The hull primed. Auto primer white.

The bottom in black, there’s going to be metallics here.

Hard edge Cammo, I wanted it to be kinda WW I, or French in style like on a Char B1 or the likes

Some chalks lightly applied and sealed in Humbrol matt.

Starting the worn metal, rusted with different browns and slowly worked with lighter browns down to orange.

Metals slowly applied. I want to get a kinda construction machinery finish.

The off white/cream will provide the outer edges of the paint chips.

I hope when I get more done this step will become self explanatory.

The work so far, I applied lighter greens to the green for the chips. The same for the browns.

I applied less chipping to the top and went heavy on the bottom.

I will not be applying too much mud as I think it would fall off due to the vibration and the mines exploding. Thats why I’m chipping the bottom heavily.

I’m trying to give an effect that the bottom is being scarred by earth being thrown up by the explosions.

Thanks for looking in on the build.

All the Best,

Terry.

Beautiful work on the steel pads… You might rethink the mud and put some on the back sides of the pads and around the hinge area but leave the face relativly clean and dusty… Just a thought. Looks good man!

I’m amazed at how realistic those wheels came out.

Just got one word for ya OUTSTANDING !

WOW, man!

I agree–OUTSTANDING!

That metallic look you’ve got going is just amazing!

Coming along great terry…the next installment ought to be a good one based on the work you’ve got done so far.

[:D]Terry bro’

looking 1/1 man. the weathering, wear and tear on the wheels is top drawer!!— you are taking a rough looking piece of resin and turning it into a masterwork. beauty. Your e-mail change again? --I get N/A when I try—great work my friend.----tread[8D]

If you hadn’t told me those wheels were resin, I never would have believed you. They look like you scratched them with real steel parts![tup][tup] Not to mention the rest of the build is really starting to come together and get closer to the finished product, which I can’t wait to see![:D]

Amazing work Terry. It looks real to me beacuase it looks …welll… heavy[:O]

Thanks alot fot the kind comments guys, I’ve taken on board your suggestions K-dawg. Everything is up in the air for me on this build because of all the possibilities. I even thought of putting a crater on the base from where in just done its work.

My friend kevin is at the moment making some barbed wire for me to entangle this beast.

Again thanks, K-dawg, Bill, Karl, panzerguy Mg.Mikael and my good friend and eternal “Hippy-Biker” The reverend Sir treads alot and well.

Thanks again,

Terry

Well since the last post I got a little done on this monster.

So on with the pic’s.

THose cream scratches have now been filled in with different shades of brown. This will be the metal under the paint, the lighter colour will be the under coat of the colour.

I put large scrapes on the under side and the wheels to represent stone scrapes from debris being thrown up by detonations and barbed wire being dragged along caught in the wheels.

this is just progress in the painting process.

More work on the metallic areas on the bottom of the vehicle.

And to finish this update some close ups of thet chipping so far. I need to very subtly give the impression of surface rust seeping throught from the exposed metal.

Thanks alot to everybody who has lent support throughout this project.

Thanks again for looking ,

Terry.

Coming along great terry, definitely looks like it’s seen its share of minefields! [tup]

This is magnificent!

And to think this began with a few chunks of resin.

A perfecto blend of colors and textures on an armored palette. Absolute first rate!

When I look at some models, I think “what a great modeler”.

When I look at this work, I think “what a great artist”.

This is pure art.

Well done.
