Minenraumer. Nearly There. Pg.5 May 11th.

Well I seem to have been bitten quite badly by the modelling bug this year, this is my fifth I think.

ITs an old resin kit mastered by Tony Greenland. I bought this kit without instructions for 20 Euro’s(Yo’Yo’s) a few years back.

A friend of mine got me a copy of the instructions.

I thought it would take a life time to clean up, but a few hours in front of the TV and it cleaned up O.K. pic’s to follow.

The kit.

The one pice hull, pretty hefty, with an easily removed plug to the front.

The Pz. 1 turret, it dates to 1994 but I think its O.K.

Since I did my Droid tank thing from star wars I thought wow they look similar.

I think that its well known that I like the weird, because thats what makes life interesting to me.

Thanks for looking,

I hope to post progress soon.

HOT DOG!

The image “http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x296/nightingalesings/Smileys/hotdog.gif” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Don’t see too many of these get built up and they definitely fall into the “wierd but true” kind of design. I bet it weighs a ton with that solid resin hull! Look forward to seeing what you do with this one.

hiya Terry[:)]–

Man you do go towards the different (not weird)(to me), but definately different. So cool.

next thing i know, you will be scratching the Czar Tank in 1/16–that would be alot of spokes to make–mmmmmm[#toast]----tread[8D]

WOW, this is a pretty cool model, terry! Nice to see something waay off the beaten path here. This will be a fun build.

NO directions? How many parts do you have to guess about? LOL!

Dang! That is alot of resin. Nevertheless I’m lookin’ forward to seeing this Mineraumer built and painted.[:)]

Well thanks guys for the interest so far, I’m enjoying this one. I got the whole thing cleaned up during the week. I ave to do a lot of filling before I get to lay down some paint.

I have only completed one wheel so far.

the links take a bit of time to get done, not difficult just a lot of filing and drilling to get everything aligned.

This just shows a completed wheel mounted temporarily.

To give an idea of size that is a panzer one turret mounted on top.

Just took this to give an idea of the ground clearance.

THanks for looking.

Terry.

I said it once and I’ll say it again, that sure is alot of resin.[;)] Those huge Mineraumer wheels are looking good, can’t wait to see your next update.

Making good progress terry! Those wheels look like something straight out of a Flash Gordon type of comic book… [(-D]

Well its Paddy’s Day, I’m Irish, I’m sober. Whats with that?

Anyhow I got a bit of work done so I decided to do a bit of an update. I started by cutting up a spare Pz. 1 turret from Tristar, I thought it might be more accurate than the kit one.

I had to reduce the ring with a cutters and sanding.

I got to put down some paint, started by spraying some Chaos black from Games workshop.

I then painted this goopy brown mix lightly all over the wheels, it took several coats, I didn’t want an even coating, more of a staining.

I didn’t notice the texture on the parts, clear here. that’s not intentional, that’s a dirty mould or a badly mixed resin.

After stippling different shades of the brown mix (I just lightened the mix as I went along) , I got the results that were close to what I was looking for. I wanted something almost agricultural.

After some drybrushing with different metallics I was closer to what I wanted. I still have a long way to go.

Thanks for looking,

As always all comments welcome.

Terry.

Wow! That is quite the effect you have going there! Looks very ‘agricultural’ to me.

What kinds of paint were you using on the brown mix, oils, acryl or enamels?

Hi, Beav, I’m using mostly Games Workshop acrylics, just because I pass the shop on the way home from work. I can get Vallejo as well but the shop is a bit of a detour.

thanks,

Terry.

Terry,

Those monster wheels are the signature element on this build and this is really shaping up nicely. Definitely achieving your goal, looking forward to where it goes from here. Using the Tristar turret ought to give you more flexibility and better detail as well. [tup]

Wicked job so far!!

Thanks Bill, Disastermaster and Tony. Just slogging along here. Going to try get some more done tonight and post asap.

Going to be working on washes to try and give those big wheels a proper lived in look.

Thanks again for the kind words.

Terry.

Terry, the finish you got on those wheel pads is just simply amazing. They look absolutely 1:1 real!

Congratulations! This will be an unquestionable award-taker when it’s finished!

Now THAT is extreme armor… both in subject and progress.

Beautiful Mineraumer wheels, terry35! …well as beautiful as Mineraumer wheels could actually be.[;)]

Wow! How did I miss this on the first go 'round? Certainly unusual; you’re not going to see any minenraumer group builds. Really awesome finish you got on the wheels. Very impressive. When completed, this one will need a figure or something to give it a sense of scale.
