I’m currently eyeballing this kit as a future purchase from the result of an unexpected winfall (I won a local art competition with the promise of a $50 Hobby Lobby gift card. Pretty cool.) and was wondering if it was any good. It’s currently on clearance for about $18.00, and I hope to wait for a half off sale so I can pick up a 1/72 Hasegawa He 111 and/or 1/72 Hasegawa B-25 with it too.
Although I’ve not built this particular kit, I’ve built a fair number of Minicraft 1/72 a/c kits and have never been disappointed. I’ve built a number of different Catalinas, a Vega, Venturas of varying descriptions, and a couple of others.
They’re not “mind blowing”, perfectly detailed kits…but they’re better than most out there.
I don’t remember ever having to “fight” with any of them to get things to fit, and I’ve always been pretty impressed with the final result.
I’d be surprised if you were disappointed with the Liberator - for $18 bucks, it’s a steal.
I agree with Lee - Minicraft kits are of decent quality, tho limited in detail. I think you will enjoy the challenge of scratchbuilding the details you want/need on this a/c. You certainly have the talent for it! [bow]
