Milliput will not cure

I used Milliput for one of my projects. After two days it still did not cure. I mixed it 50/50 and it was throughly blended. The tubes are around two years old and has been kept in a refrigerator in my model room. I used the same tube about six months ago with no problem. Does Milliput have a shelf life? I have only about 1/5 of it left. I tried mixing it again yesterday with the same results.

Berny,

I have to say I’ve never ran into that problem, but then I’m using up Milliput rather fast and a package never last more than a couple of months here… I’m not even sure I always use 50/50 in my mix. Close, but probably never 50/50. By the way, I just about only use the ‘normal’ Milliput, the one coming in a white box with red trimmings. Older packages I do buy often have a thicker, dryier, greensish ‘crust’ around the ‘grey’ component (the one in the blue plastic bag) and I’ve learned that this crust does not ‘mix’ anymore, so it is important to remove it before mixcing the two components.

That could be my problem. I’ll try to seperate the good stuff from the crust and give it another try. Thanks for the help and suggestion.

I’ve had a similar problem with Tamiya’s epoxy putty. It seems if the ratio isn’t precise, the drying time is variable.

It worked. Set up great. I was sanding about four hours after I applied it. Again, thanks for the help.

Glad it worked, Berny!
