Hey all,
The long awaited build that I thought would never be completed. To make a short story long, its basically right out of the box except for a few minor add ons.
With the interior, I added the brake and gas pedals(which weren’t supplied w/ the kit). These were made by using plastic strip and rods.
Added wiring to the radios by using solder(.010). From there I lined the wires from the radios to the antennae mounts.
After I completed the communication phones, I realised that the DML’s Desert Patrol(w/motorbike) had these phones[:(!][:p]. Anyways these lil guys were made again w/ sheet strips and excess resin leftovers. When all was said and done, the phones consisted of five parts each.
Used surgical tape for the gunners strap. Now for the exterior; there was not that much done per say to the Humvee itself. I did add though a second antenna to the upper left hand side near the roof. This was done by sheet strip and rod.
The antennas were made by strecthing sprue. Now the fun part comes and that was making the motorbike mount.
The total unit consists of 15 parts which again was made w/ sheet stock, channel and “T” beams. For the hooks I used solder(.010). Surgical tape was again used for the straps.
The motorbike was from the Tamiya JGSDF which makes the DML kit look bad. Even though there were slight differences between the two bikes, I opted for Tamiyas. Really nothing was done but adding hand brake, clutch and speedo cable.
Heck w/ out further due here she is, Tamiyas new M1025. These were quick and dirty pix!![;)]. Click on the pix for a bigger view.
Dont mind the “Mad Modeller” applying his latest weathering technique.

Hey joe,
Well I really did not use my imagination per say. I actually got the idea from Verlindens book on the Hummer and a few other Humvee reference books.
I do agree w/ you about the modellers “imagination”, it really amazes me where it can take one!!
Flaps up, Mike
Great job, Butz! The bike was a very nice addition to the Humvee. And the photos are great, too. I wish I could get such clear shots. Thanks for sharing!
Hey allan,
Thank you very much for the kind words!! I too agree w/ you on the motobike addition.
Dont ask me why but I guess I wanted my Humvee to be different. OK stand out a bit…!! LOL[:p].
Seriously though, I saw a few ref pix of this field mod and I said why not?? Anywho, I am glad you liked it.
