Mighty Mini's GB! 1/144 scale

Well there’s a 1/72 group build so why not something smaller… much smaller… So why not a 1/144 group build? Build anything that’s in 1/144 scale. Civi or military, plane or ship or armor… anything 1/144!

Time line will be from August 15th and will run for, now, 288 days, until May 30, 2014. Date changed so more people could join have time to possibly complete more builds. If no one likes this I’ll change it back or shorten the current finish date.

What’s everybody’s opinion on this?

I think its a bit big, 90 whole pixels across (amazing, I know… I don’t even know how it could even fit on this page…) but I had to so the words may be visible. So come on down and get 'em while they’re hot!

I won’t be able to enter this as I don’t have anything this small. But just a suggestion if I may. This one might be worth a feeler thread first, maybe post in the ships and aircraft forums at least, as I think they would be your most likely subjects. It also might give you a feel for if there’s enough interest but not enough people who can commit at the moment. There are a lot of new GB’s recently, and the last thing you want is for people to commit and then hardly anyone builds as they don’t have the time.

I personally find its better to have some lead in time for a GB.

Just my [2cnts] I do hope you can get this off the ground.

I’d certainly be interested. I agree with Bishster, and add a couple other comments. I would make the period much shorter, like 144 days say. After all, these are smaller models. Lon GB’s just get dissipated. I just finished the FSM GB which was really quick (5 months), and it kept everyone focused.

Also, you should narrow the focus. The 1/72 GB, while big, is by it’s nature pretty much limited to aircraft and some AFV’s but not ships, cars, etc.

You could consider making this 1/144 only. Otherwise just about every ship model ever built qualities.

Ok. I’ll post in the aircraft, ships, and armor sections. And I’ll make the time shorter… and only 1/144… But aircraft, ships, and armor.

Like I said in a/c forum… I’m in. But the start date will have to be a bit later than earlier. Might be time for another Peanut Butter Panzer[:P]

Count me in. Model unknown at this point. Need to go shopping

I’m in with Eastern Express’ C-47

Ok. Due to the few amount of people saying it should start later, I’ll start it on the 15th of August, to allow people to gather needed supplies and kits. But I will put together a roster for now.

OK put me down for Sweet Me-109F. If I can’t make the timeline I will let you know before the end.

Ok… We’ll need more people for this to truly be called a “group build”…

You can confirm me. I’m just trying to decide what I’m going to build.

OK - I’m decided. I just bought a FineMolds 1/144 Millenium Falcon.

I’m going to build an in-flight display, probably with internal LED lighting.

The lighting will be a first for me  Should be fun to weather too.

Alright. I’ll put you down now. Just three more days to go until kickoff.

Sign me up im not sure about the subject yet but i do know itll be an aircraft.

I’m in but no subject yet. I’ll check the stash this evening for something fun. Oh wait! I’m doing an Ozmods C-2 Greyhound conversion with the Revell E-2C kit for an ARC GB, I’ll post it here as well.

Revell/OzMods 1/144 C-2 Greyhound

I’m in with the Minicraft 1/144 Boeing 314 “Pacific Clipper”. The first commercial round the world flight, although not by choice.

It’s the old Airfix kit, upgraded with fine panel lines and no more giant rivets.

I was thinking about the MC 1/144 707, but it just gets scathing reviews.

I like the MC Clipper, did one a couple years ago. I wish they would re-tool the 707 to the quality of the DC-8 kit. I’ve got a DC-8 working and it’s awesome.

Im wanting to build a BUFF but dont have 1in the stash and havent ever built 1. Whats the best BUFF kit in 1/144 scale and is there any after market sets? Thanks for letting me join yall this is my first GB and im pumped about it. Jason

Well the usual sites seem to give the Minicraft one a good grade, the Revell/ Academy maybe a little less so. Decals, landing gears, stuff like that seems to be available.

This will be a good first GB. I’d say there’s a fighting chance folks will finish their models because they are manageable, and time can’t be wasted.

Well ill definitely finish mine bc itll be the only 1 ill be working on my 7 and 8 yr old daughters helped me pick the subject and wont let me work on anything other then the plane for the GB i dont know whos more excited about the GB me or them bc they picked the kit and are gonna help daddy lol. Thanks for the info on kits and after market items ill get on ebay and get the ball rolling on getting them ordered. And any pointers on weathering and stuff would be much appreciated this will be my first attempt on weathering and adding after market items i hope i dont make to big of a fool outa myself lol. Jason
