Mig Floggers ready to go

I have recently completed two Floggers, one a Mig-23 from Libya, circa 1976 and a Mig-27 from Syria, circa 1986. More photos at:
http://www.finescale.com/fsm/community/forum/topic.asp?page=16&TOPIC_ID=31821 for the Mig-23 and for the Mig27

edit 21:15 Both Migs are Hasegawa, 1/72 scale kits.

Hi Darwin… say, those are nice looking couple of Migs you got yourself there!! [:)] I’ve always liked the “23”, great build, super camo, thanks for showing them! [:)]

Take care,
Frank

A couple of very nicely done Mig’s. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Darwin,amazing models!
Now go for Revell’s 1/72 Mig 21F.
Maybe the best 1/72 plastic model I’ve seen

Two really nice birds! Great job!

Wow Darwin
those are a great looking pair of migs

Great looking builds. Wish I could find a Mig 23 in 1/48th.[V] Oh well maybe one day. Bryan

Thanks for the kind words.
ww2boy I used Model Master enamels.
mmaker Are you referring to the fairly new Revell Mig-21 F-13 (Fishbed C) or do they now have a Fishbed F?

Nice job on two under-represented subjects.

I have both of these in 1/48 waiting to build and cant wait. For some reason I thought the 27 had a different NATO codename. I probably wrong. Should probably do some more research before I open my mouth hu?
The models look great by the way. I hope mine turn out as nice

Very nice pair of Migs. Nice, clean edges on the camo. Nicely done.

Thanks for the pics they look great…

Nice job!

The NATO ASCC (Air Standardization and Coordinating Committee) really muddied the waters with these two airplanes. The interceptor version was first on the scene and was called the Mig-23 Flogger. The ground attack version appeared soon afterward and since it was obviously based on the same airframe, at first was called the Mig-23 Flogger D, while the other picked up another alpha designator, I think either A or B. Then some genius at ASCC decided there was enough difference to change the 2nd one to Mig-27, but kept the Flogger reporting name to acknowledge the common design origin. A little later the Soviets came up with a model that had the short, no radar nose of the Mig-27, but they added a limited air intercept capability and NATO called this a Mig-23! The last I knew, all the large, radar nosed versions were Mig-23’s, but the short, shovel nosed version can be Mig-27 or Mig-23. There are a few very minute differences in pitot tubes, antennas, etc.
