Yep, the gates are open on this one! [Y]

Cheers

where?

then… my gridline

the kit is boxed as revell but this is the only part from revell , the decals sheet (and are printed in italy [^o)] )

recently i got six k-36d from pavla to start this mig , the mig-29ub and a su-34, i like to not use aftermarket parts but to scratch six equal ejection seat will too tedious.

heres the “zvezda” sprues

as you can see there’s have no engraved lines but “very” engraved and large lines

afterburner nozzles have no details, and out things are no better.

parts are enginered in a strange way… (lots of work needed to made something decent)

Just as information, someone know a better mig-31 kit in 1/72 scale?

The foxhound is a giant even in 1/72 scale, i compared it with same scale four engines grief and with a super etendard

ok that’s all for the bench, i’m counting to start works this weekend

…and we’re off! Great start, that is a huge bird, bsyamato

Yeah good ejection seats make all the differernce, can’t wait to see how the office shapes up!

Cheers

Wow…that MiG-31 IS huge! I had no idea. Didn’t realize that Revell did a boxing - isn’t that originally a Zvezda kit?

i hope not make troubles with resin pieces , i used in past metal ejection seats but never managed resin [:(]

I’ll sctatch the cockpit tub, the one in the kit is totally wrong, and yes Dupes , the mold are 100% from zvezda , but unfortunately not at actual zvezda standards (es. like the new mil mi-26 i love it!).

some update

free bases ejection seats with dremel hard disk [blkeye]

now some free space to scratch new cockpit (original ip is flat! then on the recycle too!)

at least the plastic of this kit is easy to cut.

Lurking !

some update for the 31

starting scratch cockpit

measuring with caliber and cutting pieces needed for bulkheads and cockpit floor

!(http://i405.photobucket.com/albums/pp139/bsyamato/modellismo/mig-31 RevZvez 72/100_3371.jpg)

!(http://i405.photobucket.com/albums/pp139/bsyamato/modellismo/mig-31 RevZvez 72/100_3372.jpg)

glued and fixed with extra reinforecer

!(http://i405.photobucket.com/albums/pp139/bsyamato/modellismo/mig-31 RevZvez 72/100_3373.jpg)

using references and ejection seats i find the right height for the cockpit floor, the rear need just to stand on the front well.

!(http://i405.photobucket.com/albums/pp139/bsyamato/modellismo/mig-31 RevZvez 72/100_3378.jpg)

!(http://i405.photobucket.com/albums/pp139/bsyamato/modellismo/mig-31 RevZvez 72/100_3376.jpg)

!(http://i405.photobucket.com/albums/pp139/bsyamato/modellismo/mig-31 RevZvez 72/100_3377.jpg)

increased at the right height with 3 mm

!(http://i405.photobucket.com/albums/pp139/bsyamato/modellismo/mig-31 RevZvez 72/100_3380.jpg)

then added the middle bulkheads glued to the floor

!(http://i405.photobucket.com/albums/pp139/bsyamato/modellismo/mig-31 RevZvez 72/100_3471.jpg)

!(http://i405.photobucket.com/albums/pp139/bsyamato/modellismo/mig-31 RevZvez 72/100_3472.jpg)

on the picture a fantasy figure that will explain soon

!(http://i405.photobucket.com/albums/pp139/bsyamato/modellismo/mig-31 RevZvez 72/100_3477.jpg)

carefully cuuting excess plastic the cockpit fit good

!(http://i405.photobucket.com/albums/pp139/bsyamato/modellismo/mig-31 RevZvez 72/100_3481.jpg)

!(http://i405.photobucket.com/albums/pp139/bsyamato/modellismo/mig-31 RevZvez 72/100_3479.jpg)

!(http://i405.photobucket.com/albums/pp139/bsyamato/modellismo/mig-31 RevZvez 72/100_3483.jpg)

tha’s all for the mig.

I decided to put the foxhound in a basic diorama, just as showed in some russian parade to public.

I’ll just put it in a concrete base, probably some civilia that look where putin put people moneys [:D]

and to survey the mig put a police woman , here some good reference

So… i don’t have a set of russian police then some scratch needed.

To scratch a body in 1/72 is not so impossible, but faces are another question , then i’ll use pieces frome the above elven fantasy figure from caesar miniatures

after some cut (included elves ears) take measures to scratch the legs from evergreen rod, really good to carve

!(http://i405.photobucket.com/albums/pp139/bsyamato/modellismo/mig-31 RevZvez 72/100_3473.jpg)

!(http://i405.photobucket.com/albums/pp139/bsyamato/modellismo/mig-31 RevZvez 72/100_3474.jpg)

!(http://i405.photobucket.com/albums/pp139/bsyamato/modellismo/mig-31 RevZvez 72/100_3475.jpg)

!(http://i405.photobucket.com/albums/pp139/bsyamato/modellismo/mig-31 RevZvez 72/100_3478.jpg)

and now thats really all, i do this waiting the glue dry on the cockpit

Good progress there, bsyamato. So which girl will you be putting in the dio? The blonde or the brunette??! [;)]

Cheers

!(http://i405.photobucket.com/albums/pp139/bsyamato/modellismo/mig-31 RevZvez 72/100_3494.jpg)

i can assure that not maniacal 100 % ip reproduction but is fairly accurate… as possible for me [^o)]

that’s all, here is about 3:30 of night … goodnight

That’s some great detail for 1/72! Can’t wait to see more.

Cheers

Bsyamato wait thats 1/72 scale ? I cant do half that well in 1/48 [:D[

Thanx for comments [:D]

Vetterman probably i’m not so good to do same things in 1/48, because needed more precision than 1/72 scale [blkeye] (and at actually build rate i will out of my house for “not enough space”)

main ip are finished, it took a total of 3 or four hours.

!(http://i405.photobucket.com/albums/pp139/bsyamato/modellismo/mig-31 RevZvez 72/100_3527.jpg)

!(http://i405.photobucket.com/albums/pp139/bsyamato/modellismo/mig-31 RevZvez 72/100_3527.jpg)

fit seems good

!(http://i405.photobucket.com/albums/pp139/bsyamato/modellismo/mig-31 RevZvez 72/100_3528.jpg)

that’s all for now, hope to finish soon the whole forward section.

… and soon policewoman update [:P]

Casper!!! I want in!!! Please!!![:D[ I have several migs in the stash I have been looking over everytime I look in one of the closets. I will get back later with the details: more than likely it will be Dragon’s 1/72 Mig-17. But I also have a Mig 29 in there too! Will let you know tomorrow when I get home from shift.

You’re in! Just let me know what/where/when and stuff.

Casper:

Here is my submission for the GB. It is Dragon’s Ji-12 (Mig-15) in 1/72 scale. I haven’t decided which paint scheme I am going with yet.
