MiG-15bis

I want a section of my display cabinet reserved for MiG aircraft. So far, I’ve only built 3. There is something about them that fascinates me I guess; maybe it’s just the exoticism of foreign planes that were once rare and mysterious to us in the West. I have an unbuilt MiG-27 and another MiG-15 (Tamiya) to build and would love to have a MiG-25, -19, -17 and -3 sitting on that shelf with them. This is my Monogram MiG-15bis. It’s finished in Floquil Old Silver, with assorted panels done in various other metal paints. The gun barrels are steel tubing. The marking are AeroMaster (set 48-230) and represent the aircraft flown by Russian Capt. Pavel Milauskin in Korea, credited with 10 victories in 1952. I know that Monogram kits get bad-mouthed a lot on the modeling 'boards, but if you’re willing to work on them, you can turn out a nice 'plane. anyway, here she is:

Great looking NMF on that one Tex! Thanks for sharing.

Nice job on the Mig! Haven’t seen the Monogram kit in years, but it was pretty good for it’s day. I think you’ll find the Tamiya kit to be better, however. Trumpeter also has released the Mig-15 bis in 1/48, as well as a Mig-15 uti two seater version. Trumpeter also has a very nice Mig-19 S and Acadamy has a decent Mig-21. Those should keep you busy for a couple of weeks. Like your NMF, I also use Floquil Old Silver on many of my models, although lately I’ve been using Alclad 2. Keep on posting, love to see pics of others endeavors.
