Midway scout planes

Watchin Midway for the tenth time this weekend, I had a question. What are those scout planes that figured so prominantly in finding the Japanese fleet? They had props on a wing that was higher than the fuselage or something like that. What ever they are, does someone have them in 1:48?

If you’re talking about the scout aircraft using the callsign “Strawberry #” then they were PBY Catalina’s. Not sure which varient were actually involved at Midway, but there are quite a few available in 1/72, and I think maybe even one or two in 1/48.

As far as I can recall, Monogram/Revell(or is it Promodel?) produces one in 1/48 scale in very good detail. At least, Revell, Academy and Airfix all produce their own 1/72 Catalina.

Yes, Revell/Monogram produces a very fine 1/48 PBY Catalina.

Academy has a full range of Catalinas in 1/72. Don’t know how accurate they are or how easy they build.
