Are all of these available, US, in waterline 1:700 series? If so, what was the typical complement of aircraft on the decks? Same question for Japanese. I would like to build all of them as a project. Any major battleshipos along for the ride?
the 3 us carriers at midway were the sister ships hornet, enterprise and yorktown. each us carrier had a complement of 100 aircraft. the aircraft carried were dauntless dive bombers, devastator torpedo and f4f-4 widcats.the japanese carriers were the akagi. kaga, hiryu and the soryu. the akagi could carry 91 aircraft, kaga carried about the same and sister ships soryu and hiryu carried about 70 aircraft each. in 700 scale, hornet and enterprise are available from tamiya. you could use one of these kits to portray the youktown with some work. of the japanese, kaga and akagi are available from hasegawa in 700 scale while the soryu and hiryu are available from skywave. all jap carriers and the yorktown were sunk at midway. yamamoto had overall command of the attack from the flagship yamato several hundred miles behind the carriers. the jap carriers were called the kido butai or strike force. this group consisted of 2 fast battleships, the four carriers, 2 heavy cruisers, 1 light cruiser and 12 destroyers.the two heavy cruisers were the tone and the chikuma, the light cruiser was the nagara and three of the tin cans were the arashi, hagikaze and the maikaze. tamiya put out a kit of the yamato in 700 scale.the tone and chikuma are put out by fujimi, the nagara is done by tamiya. i cant find any kits of the destroyers. someone out there might be able to assist you further. i hope this gives you a kickstart in the right direction. good luck and smooth sailing from sunny down under. cheers.[8D]. almost forgot. the japanese aircraft were val dive bombers, kate torpedo bombers and a6m zero fighters.

Hasegawa makes a wide range of 1/700 scale Japanese destroyers, I have over 25 built. I believe at least two of the three you mentioned are kitted. The other is probably a sister ship to one that is kitted, and with an equipment set, can probably be converted easy.
Also The “great American” Admrial Nagumo was in command of the 1st Carrier Div. He was the one who gave the fateful order to rearm from attacking Midway to attacking the American Naval force. He also commanded the 1st CVDIV at Pearl.
