Has anyone used the microscale gloss/matte varnishes? Are they any good? what are they like with washes? and is it a better alternative to future/Klear or just another method of acheiving the same aim!
Any tips appreciated.

I haven’t used either Future or the Microscale product. But I just wanted to throw this out to you for whatever it’s worth - varnishes (true varnishes) have a yellowing effect. In that once applied they can show a very slight to a darker tint. Also with time they tend to darken a bit more, some brands/products more than others.
I use varnishes for woodworking projects and clear coat auto’s and models with enamel, laquer or just wax. I should mention I build auto kits exclusively and don’t use many decals. I’d rather paint instead of decal. The wax gives a really nice luster.
