Micro Sol/Set whats the difference

Is Micro Sol for setting the decal and letting it “lay down” and then Micro Set used to keep it there?

put dowm micro set on the spot where your about to put the decal. it prepares thr surface… after putting the dacal over it pat it down. let it dry. then put micro sol over it. it snuggles it down. anymore questions on decals email me at mark6560@hotmail.com

Micro Set is an acid base surface prep, while Sol is an alcohol base solvent which softens the inks used to print the decal. Set mildly softens some decals, and can be used alone with decals which won’t tolerate Sol.

One bit it caution when using MicroSol. Test not only the decal to make sure it won’t get ruined from the Sol but also test the finish! I just finished a P-51 using SnJ powders. I put a decal on then overcoated it with MicroSol. The MicroSol washed away some of the metal powder and revealed the gloss white undercoat I started with. Sometimes it helps if you thin down your MicroSol with a teeny bit of water rather than using it full strength.

Agreed! MicroSol and SolvaSet are very strong, and may be too much for some decals, or even for some finishes. I would certainly test an unimportant decal with them first, to be sure they don’t eat the decal.
