I hate plastic turret handles bars. They are fragile and hard to glue. If you created DIY metal handle bars, let me know what material you used.
I normally use brass rod for grab handles. Just bend it to shape and glue it into holes which have been drilled out to accept them. It’s a lot stronger than plastic and there’s no need for cleaning mold lines or flash.
I have seen various size staples used also.
i will do that too. if they are almost angular instead or really rounded at the ends look for a strip of bass wood the right width and use that for the template. DOH i was thinking hatch handles.

We called them “grunt rails”
Most are simple round pipes welded onto the turret with simple pieces of metal. Just making them out of styrene rod and pieces of strip.
Copper wire or brass rod work well as a more durable replacement.
