Original Hasegawa 1/32 scale kit from 1973.
First I built the Walter HWK 509 rocket engine.

Don’t think I’ve ever seen one of these built up before. Lots of smaller ones, I even have a couple. I’ll be following to see what I can incorporate into my 1/72 Heller one.
Next I built the cockpit.

The instrument panel is not all that visible once the canopy is installed so I just hand painted it.

I was concerned the instrument panel could break off after it was installed since it’s only supposed to be cemented to half the fuselage and it didn’t fit flush. After the fuselage halves were cemented together I cleaned up the top edge where it mounts and installed it with a dowel that runs through the nose for reinforcement.

I also didn’t like how the propeller was supposed to be attached and lengthened the shaft with another dowel so it can be slid in after the plane is painted.

After the wings were cemented on I sprayed the bottom surfaces with decanted Tamiya AS-5 Light Blue.

All around excellent work! I am not really an aircraft guy but I have always liked the Me 163. I have an early 1970s edition of Scale Modeler with the 1/32 Hasegawa Me 163 painted all in red. I have always thought about trying my hand at that. I look forward to seeing more of your build.
I shot the gray first, and then roughed in the green.

Then I went back and tightened the edges with the gray.

Your Komet is looking very good! I’ve got to dig my kit out of the stash now.
After the top surfaces were defined I went back and cleaned up the underside color breaks.

The underside insignias needed a lot of solvent to work, probably due to their age.

I used colored pencils to put some wear on the skid.

Excellent paint work! Nice demarcations between colours and very even finish.
Scale-Master, this Komet is looking awesome! Merry Christmas.
One of the insignias for the top of the wings would not snuggle down so I cut the clear out of the center of both of them after they had set for about 30 minutes.

All the decals are on it. Some of them were too brittle to use even after over coating them; they just would not release from the paper. I did some very mild weathering on it too. I may do some more where the decals are missing.

Finished
It was a fun project.

Looks good. Just saw one the real thing at the Virginia (US) location of the National Air and Space Museum.
Outstanding job on this “vintage” kit. I hope that you have a great New Years.
