Hi, Awood23!
I saw your call for help on another topic.
So you’re stuck in our little country, huh? But wwwwwwhat kind of crime did you commit at home to get such a punition?! [:D][;)][:D]
Anyway, let’s get serious. I don’t know of any hobby shop around La Louviere, these guys are rather specialized in pizzas. Try it.
But if you come to Brussels, you have two of them :
“Le Point 50”
Boulevard M. Lemonnier 50, Brussels (zip code 1000)
Tel : 02/512 74 18
This one is closed on monday.
And “Le 16ème Escadron”
Avenue de l’Armée 136, Brussels (zip code 1040)
Tel : 02/733 85 50
And with this one, there is a bonus : you will find, almost in front of it (on a corner), a bookstore, “La librairie de l’Escadron” (rue de l’Escadron, 1//Tel :02/734 11 85, Fax : 02/732 42 91). This one is specialized in the military. Tons of books on every subject, the majority in english, but even in russian and japanese. You’ll love it and cry of happiness! Bring your creditcard and a truck!
In the phonebook, I also noticed a hobbystore in Marcinelle, near Charleroi. I dont know this one, but the name sounds promising. Here it is :
“U.S Action Hobbies”
Avenue de Philippeville 255, Marcinelle (zip code 6001)
Tel : 071/ 43 32 62
So, good luck Awood!
If I’ve been of any help, it’ll make my day!
Thanks for the information JP you’ve been loads of help. I really haven’t had a chance to get outside the local area. And not speaking the launguage makes one a little hesitant but I found these adresses on mapquest and first chance I get Ill give em a look see
Don’t be afraid to try. I know the guy from “Le 16ème escadron” speaks at least some english (I heard him once…) I don’t know for the one at “Le point 50”, but there is good chance. Anyway, people in Belgium are usually helpful and open.
well JP,
My first trip to Brussels was a complete flop. I made it up there this morning in hopes of getting to the Hobby Shops and stocking up on supplies. First I’d like to say that driving in Brussels for an American is like walking blindfolded through a Hedgemaze. I bought a map once I was in Brussels to try and find the two shops you mentioned but using the map and trying to read street signs is near impossible. I did find Point 50 by shear luck. I could probably find it again but buy the same driving till I was completely lost way I found it the first time. No luck on the “Le 16ème Escadron” I cant even find the road Avenue de l’Armée in my map. I did find a road with the stores name Rue de Escadron… though Im guessing they’re not the same place and with as lost as I was trying to find Point 50 I wasnt willing to push my luck Especialy after I found out today was a Belgian Holiday (Labor Day??) and many stores were closed including Point 50
this would have been nice to know before I planned my trip… All is not lost though, atleast I have an idea where to go and find Point 50 ( I can even take the train to Gare du Midi and walk) Can you give me another Main street that “Avenue de l’Armée” connects with? maybe I’ll have better luck trying to find it next trip.
PS If you see a Silver Ibizaz rental car or Black Ford Mustang driving the wrong way down a one way street or on a sidewalk anytime in the near fututre could you flag me down and give me directions?
You were also dead on with recomending the Pizzas in this area… Ive even learned how to order my favorite Jambo, Fromage, and Anana not sure thats spelled right but its a Hawian pizza… very good, gonna get fat
and something called a Pininie? gonna need new pants with a bigger waist size
Thanks for your help
