Merkava IV WIP Pics

Well it’s been a slow process with work getting in the way and all (not to mention the wife)… Here’s what I have so far, it’s been a huge challenge for me with the left side not fitting too well by about two millimeters, so miliput came in handy! All that’s really left is the ball and chain and some of the remaining details of the turret that can’t go on until the Balls are done! I hope you like it! The anti slip is made from baking soda mixed in with Mr. Surfacer 500. Anthony is going to post the pics as it seems I can’t do that anymore!

Looks great! Want to see is painted!

Soon to be another beautiful Merkava. Way to help out, Anthony!

Hey James, I take it the anti-slip effect on the paint isn’t in the detail, on this kit?

I can’t wait for you to start paintin’ this! I’m very interested! It’s my favourite part of the build, too! [:D]

Still, it’s comin’ along fine, James! [:)]

Hello

I can said that you are having fun with your favorite tank…

The chain that came with my model is a total disaster… looking for that Legend Production you mention.

Thanks very much for the tips. Looking forward to seeing your beautiful Merkava.

Greetings

TDC

Thanks for the comments guys! Eddie, unfortunately there have been a few essential details left out of this “highly researched” kit. That being said, I don’t blame Legend for some lacking details. Pics are few and far between, the ones you need to get a scale model from anyway. The Israeli government has been keeping a tight lid on this tank and with good reason! Still it is a very accurate and highly detailed kit. I have only ever come across a kit that has the anti slip molded in and that was my Mark II Batash from AEF Designs. It really takes no effort to create the really rough anti slip for these tanks. The only thing I’d do differently is use a liquid mask before doing it, but this is going to be a sandy, dirty boy! I plan on having a TV crew recording this tank as it moves on into Lebanon. Soon Eddie soon, I’m chomping at the bit to try to replicate a tank I saw in a couple pics…

The detail of that kit looks amazing. Can’t wait to see how it turns out.

Now that’s what I like to hear, a dusty an’ dirty tank! I’m lookin’ forward to it! [:D]

Looks like another IDF masterpiece in the making James. I must say the new turret makes the latest Merk look like a real ‘star wars’ weapon system. I’m sure you will post some ‘glamour shots’ of the finished beast when complete, I’ll be waiting…

regards,

Steve

James, Boy, that’s a great looking tank. I’ll be building one for someone soon, and I was wondering what things i should look out for on the legends kit. Can’t wait to see yours finished! KYle

well first and foremost, do your research! There are some details left out on the Legend kit, but, what can you expect! The tracks are very brittle and removing the excess mold is tricky without breaking the run. Take care of the alignments of the hatch. I had a fit problem with the left rear side of the tank, it was off by 1 or 1.5mms I had to use Milliput to extend it a bit! So be careful of that! Other than that it was pretty straight forward, and is full of room for your own personalization! I am going to be building one of these for a guy too, so at least I had my own to work on first to find out the chinks! Good luck man

Thanks for the heads up! I’ll post in-progress as i get it done. Kyle
