Merkava III Baz Completed Pics

This is a Vignette of a Merkava III Baz Dor Dalet (4th Generation armour package) on exercise on the Golan Heights in the Early '90s. The model base is Academy, with what started out as AEF Designs Baz conversion. The upper hull is AEF, the Turret is Legend Productions, the tracks are Fruil’s and weathered with Mig pigments. The figure is Verlinden. Snow?!? I thought I’d do something different than the desert scenes I’ve done in the past. Hope you like it.

as always questions, comments, etc… welcome!

Stunning work there James. The IDF grunt is phenominal. Commanders weapon station detail is cool, as well as the anti skid application. Everything looks just right…congrats buddy

Steve

Thanks Steve!!! Comming from you, a great compliments! I’m glad you like the figure, even though he’s not in the turret

Nice work James! Only thing I would suggest is to put some track marks behind/under the rear of the vehicle to show how it got there. [tup]

Bill I think they are there, it’s just really hard to see in the photos, he has them on the starboard side of the tank as well.

regards,

Steve

I’m referring specifically to the 4th pic down in the series, the ground under and immediately behind the tank looks smooth and undisturbed, at least on my monitor?

Yep thats the one I’m looking at too, they are there…just very very shallow through the camera eye. I cropped this photo into my image software and had to blow it up to see it. James usually uses outdoor light to shoot his models, maybe it would show up better in natural light?

regards my friend,

Steve

Bill they are there, but I think the crappy lighting I have today they don’t show too well. I think I need to add more snow really… Thanks for looking!

james man [:D]-- absolutely superb looking-- this is one heck of a beautiful job[tup][tup]–what I really like is pic #5-- the paint job on the figure is A#1 supremo!!–it’s one fearsome MBT–I love it— tread[8D]

Wouldn’t be the first time that lighting and/or monitor settings made something “disappear” when it’s really there. I do like the snow effect combination for the whole scene, definitely grabs the attention. [;)]

Love it! Superb build and presentation.[tup]

Hey thanks guys, glad you like it! Tread- I really like how the figure came out too!

I love the “ball and chain” detail below the turret. Nice work.

Thanks Rooster for the comment! Glad ya liked it! The ball and chain is probably the worst part of the entire build!

Wonderful job on the Merkava! Absolutely fantastic job! Great weathering too.

Hello

Nice

Greetings

James, I think this is one of your very best works. I’m not a huge modern armor fan, but I respect top-notch work, and really like it. The weathering is excellent. Without sounding over critical, the only thing that really kinda pokes out is the snow on the tank. In one pic, it looks almost like talc powder dumped on. Other than that, I really like this one.

Hey thanks for the comments guys! Eric, it’s too bad you’re not a modern armour fan! One bonus to it is the plethora of colour photos and not really having to discipher cammo patterns or colours! Anyway, I’m glad you liked it. The snow isn’t talcum powder, but microballoons. I do agree with you about the snow, and well, needless to say alot of it came off during transport to the show last weekend!

Again James, just my personal prefs. It certainly doesn’t take away from your build. I guess we all have our favorite genre.

That is one of the best models I’ve seen here on the forums.

The only thing is the snow on the tank looks kinda random.
