Here’s my next Project:
Looking forward to seeing this come along. I see you are going to add some figures.
Apologies for the philosophical musing, but this one got me thinking…
I’ve really only done historical scale modelling before, so I can say putting effort and interest in a WWII German armour kit is usually from a point of view of capturing history at scale rather than nurturing an intense desire to invade Poland or remilitarise the Rhineland. That part of history is kind-of done-and-dusted though…
So I’m curious, does it feel different when a hobbyist is building something so specifically marked for a current conflict? Is the justness of a belligerent in a current conflict something the hobbyist can switch off for the sake of an interesting build (which this one will definitely be!) and a faithful reproduction? Is there a nagging sense of glorifying something that should not be? Absolutely no criticism of anyone choosing to build a kit like this, more wondering if the currency of the conflict prompts a different approach to how you build it…
I suppose there were still plenty of MRAP, M1A1 and Apache kits getting around during the GWOT, the discussion of which probably energised a few Thanksgiving Dinners…
Super-interesting subject matter, and I look forward to seeing what you do with this one mate
Nah,for me,if it looks cool,I"ll build it.To me its just equipment, badass looking equipment.
I’ve built the equipment of so many nations and conflicts both good and bad,(depending on the perspective),it’s not a concern to me.
I know some guys dont build SS stuff, some with relatives who fought, wont do Japanese or German,I imagine some may not build Israeli,or The Dukes General Lee,I would never get offended over different vehicles,to each his own and their opinions.
Looks like a cool build, Tojo72!
Oh wow Anthony… what an awesome kit, and goodies! I will definitely be along for the entire ride. Enjoy Sir.
Hey Tojo, I hear where you are coming from…
Seconded! Have gotten push back in the past for German stuff.
I got the suspension and tbe lower hull done, they give you a nice jig to get them all lined up,you can make the suspension workable,I’m not making a dio,so I cemented it in place, thanks for checking in.
Watching. I’ve been getting the itch to do something Roosky lately myself, after doing a bunch of NATO builds.
This one has slowed me down a little bit,a lot of fragile pieces and attachment points, but I got most of the hull and the road wheels done.
I used the AK Real paints in the eye dropper bottles with Mr Leveling Thinner, and it went down real nice,on to the tracks,I had some old T-72 Fruils, but they look different,so I will be assembling the kit ones.
Looking very nice. Thinking about picking that kit up but I already have three T-72’s in the stash.
The piece countdown is hilarious. You did a fantastic job on the paint Anthony. Looking forward to seeing the end result of your work.
This is why I’m NOT an armor guy! I would turn it into a drinking game!

Well I can do tedious,it’s just a mindset,I can’t do difficult,fiddly,and bad.
This is coming along nicely.
Got the tracks finished and added my usual basecoat of Tamiya XF-84 Dark Iron
FWIW, I didnt use the jig they provided to assemble the tracks, was easier to to them by hand.
Nice work on those tracks @Tojo72. And the green on the hull looks great. Turret up next?
Thanks, gonna work further on the tracks, and skirts
