Meng M2A3 with BUSK.

Just ordered one of these today, along with several other tanks and 1 APC. This looks like a great project with tons of potential. Being that it’s still so new to the market, has anyone here built one yet?

Any advice for this build?

I understand the interior color is seafoam green. Is this correct?

What’s the correct exterior color? I don’t want to lay down any old tan or sand colors.

Thanks for any help on this amazing looking kit

Steve

Steve I’ve heard nothing but good things about that kit. As far as colors go I really don’t know yet. You can go online and check the federal standard colors which will get you in the ball park.

I think Tamiya makes the color I need, sand yellow. If not then I’ll hit up the hobby shop when I go to the city and get some Vallejo.

That sounds right but I hate to speculate.

It is an awesome kit. Here is one built very nicely on Armorama: http://www.armorama.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=SquawkBox&file=index&req=viewtopic&topic_id=218130

The correct exterior color is Testors Model Master Sand (FS33531).

I have one and hope to get started on it soon…after I finish a few other on-going projects.

Thanks for that link. It’s nice to get an idea as to how this kit goes together. Always been a fan of modular designs and this one looks like it’s gonna go together very nicely.

I have 5 1:72 tanks to finish and a 1:35 M113 apc from tamiya (which should all be here in the next few days) to do as well before I start this beast.

Very enjoyable and a great kit to build. The interior detail is better than any armor kit I’ve ever seen and because all the hatches open you can actually see it when done. The only problems I encountered were of my own making by not paying attention.

Is it just me or does the M2A3’s tracks look the same as a Pz.III’s?

Looking forward to your build,it is a great kit.

I’ll post lots of photos if I can ever figure out how to do that on here.

I wonder how the quality of this kit will be in comparison to my Trumpeter T-34/85. That’s one of the best kits I think I’ve ever seen.

The other thing I meant to ask…

Would I be able to use the Bradley Stowage set from Verlinden with this kit? I saw it on Firestorm and it looks like a very nice set. I don’t see the accessories being an issue in themselves but what about the PE storage rack that it comes with?

The set is not really appropriate for this version of Bradley. The storage racks were only used in the initial invasion in '03 on M2A2s in 2 BDE, 3ID. The racks were locally made in Kuwait where the Brads were drawn from Pre-Po stocks. The Meng M2A3 represents a vehicle from about '08-'09. The stowage items in the set are too old for this Brad as well.

Yes the tracks are very similar in design, the Bradley has rubber pads to keep the vehicle from tearing up paved surfaces.

I’ve got the kit but have not build it yet.

AK and Ammo Mig has the correct exterior color. Also the kit lists every color you need in Vallejo paints for the model.

Oh I’m glad to hear that. I’m taking a 7 hour drive to the city on Wednesday to stock up on Vallejo so I’m glad to hear that. Tried getting them from my LHS but they refuse to order them for me. Oh well… I think I’m gonna build a diorama around this model once it’s done as well.
