Yeah, yeah, it may not win any prizes or contents, it might be misaligned and such…but I wanted to build something quick and fun! Also, allowed me to do a cammo for the first time and really liked how it turned out. I didi very light weathering, basically its just a dusty tank.
I made the kit in one month with a lot of pauses, I was sick of building a kit for 6 to 7 months… [+o(] with tons of PE and details.
About the kit, it did had a lot of fitting issues and instructions problems. Although it should be a easy built for the number of parts, being a smal tank makes it feel like 1/72 with small parts.
I did like the base it comes with, all models should come with some kind of base, cobblestone, street, forest, etc… it provides a lot of fun and setting in a base withou the additional cost of building one.
You apparently got a good deal of satisfaction from this, compared to an eight month project. Looks pretty darn good to me. Just wait 'til (Bill) Plunkt gets to see it.
Garzonh its a nice build, looks right out of the field. I know Bill said the suspension and tracks were a little finicky but Meng usually does a good job with their kits and this ones very cool. I have one on the shelf that I hope to get to in March and Im really looking forward to it. I agree that every kit in this price range should include a base of some sort. Again it looks fantastic. Disastermaster, yep, Im now in the mood to build quick, fun, out of the box kits…there are so many kits I want to build and little time. So, at least for this year I will focus on improving my figure painting skills. [8-|]
Jibber, yes, the kit has a lot of fitting issues and some instructions are not clear on what needs to be glued where, also, if you are not building the complete interior, motor from scratch dont spent time on the interior. I made the error to beatiful paint, weather and detailed the drivers seat just to find out that with the hatches open you will see a full interior of nothing in the back, so I left all the hatches closed… [:(] but is a quick fun kit to build. I did liked how easy the track links connect to each other without a single drop of glue. [Y]

Bish, yeah, the cammo came out better than I thought. this was my first cammo. lots and lots of tape were used, but simplified my painting work. [snYea]

And I agree with Garzonh, in that the fit of the panels, especially the body panels and doors, have to be dead-on, or other bits will fit poorly. If I ever get the camo complete, I plan to display it with the doors and hatches open.
Over the years, I did lose the cooling air intake and had to fab one from sheet styrene. Luckily, most of the pictures I’ve seen show this part to be usually pretty beat up, so my fabrication is spot-on!! [:D]
I agree with everyones comments. That’s a great looking build. WW1 stuff is the best. I hope the other side of the trench span isn’t too far away. If that thing goes in the hole the crew is getting knocked out cold. No restraining devices or airbags in that thing!
Since this old thread has been resurrected I thought I’d chime in as well. As others have commented, great job on the paint/camo/weathering!
I’m working on the same tank but with the cast turret. I had lots of problems trying to fit the transmission covers properly. Bought a second kit and will proceed with caution. Of course I do plan to have the hatch/engine covers open or I would not have bothered with a second attempt. I may now build it twice - one closed up and the other with open hatches.
