here’s the belle for all of you…finally done after 5 months!!although there’s still some stuff to be done. also included are some pics while under construction…would appreciate comments and suggestions please, enjoy!!
Great job on a neat airplane. B-17’s are awesome. You’ve done a nice job on this one.
Beautiful job on the build.
Sidewainder77,
Outstanding job on the Belle, I especially like the subtle tone variations in your color scheme. Did you use the True Details resin interior or is that the stock interior? I have the B-17G from Revellogram on the pile, and just received the T.D. resin interior sets. Again excellent work! Thanks for sharing!

James, Good job on posting yer own pics[:D] I think the guys are really curious to know how you scratchbuilt some of the interior[;)] You can bet Swanny’ll be in to talk with ya on this too[:-,] By the way, is this 1/48 or 1/72? Which kit did ya use?
Peace Bro,
Eddie
A nice looking piece you’ve got there. Is that 1/48 and what set did you use for the bomb bay, Paragon or TD? Care to shoot me over a couple shots for use in my definitive B-17 article?
Hi Eddie, how you been?
Very, very nice. You should be proud of this one.
Andy
AHHHH, my very favorite bomber of all! Very nice!
I’m doin’ good Matt[:D] I figured you’d show up seeing how you’re doing a B-17 article. That’s great!!
I have been in contact with James for awhile off the boards and I can jump in here & tell ya this is the Academy B-17f/g kit. He pretty much scratchbuilt the radio room, used stretched sprue for the “ribbing” of the interior. IIRC the bomb bay is that from the kit as I believe this is the 1/72 kit. (I didn’t know TD put out a bomb bay set[%-)] Bombadier’s Compartment I have) James is busy but, checks the boards when he is able to & I’m sure he would love to give ya some info on his build. (In fact, I’ll tqist his arm for ya[;)])
thanks you all guys for the great comments!![tup] the plane is the B -17f memphis belle from academy in 1:72 scale. it really hard to get a hold of this kit here in the phillipines thats why i consider it a priced possesion now. well, there are no aftermarket parts for this plane, everything is scratchbuilt using spares from the trusty spares box and stretched sprue for the interior. the interior details included in the kit are the nav/bombadiercompartment, the cockpit and the bomb bay areas only. everything from the radio room up to the tail section interior were scratchbuilt. the bombadier/navigator compartment windows were modified removing the astrodome and adding the windows to match the early F variant, plus drilled holes to the plexiglass nose cone to add 2 more nose guns. i actually ran out of guns before i finished so i grabbed 2 spare .50cals from an f-86 and cut them to size. the bomb bay parts are stock, i only added catwalk ropes, door actuators and side racks for the bombs. i would like to thank also ED(hippy ed) for all the refferences he sent me during the build[:D]. its actually 95% complete, still have to drill holes on some parts(exhausts ,etc.) , and add detail to the lowered flaps. the plane was painted with tamiya enamels olive drab , medium green and testors light gray. swanny, here are a couple more pics for you, hope you like em.[:D]
hey swanny,
ill send over the pics thru separate email…
james
I had sent James the D&S B-17 book which is downloaded to my computer/ Plus, a few pics I picked up along the way. Think a Ball turret pic Matt had sent me.
I do believe you did a good job on this James & I know, I need ta get busy on finishing mine[:I][
