Memo to staff; Perhaps a wider distribution of outage messages

I happened to stumble onto this announcement of a website outage scheduled to begin tomorrow 09-APR-10 I noticed it on the home-page since I was on a different browser and had to come in through the top instead of my normal bookmarks. I’m sure that many other users come into their favorite forums directly via bookmarks instead of navigating from the home-page down.

Perhaps the notice of scheduled outage should be posted more widely, if not in every forum at least at the category level.

Bummer that the site will be down. Maybe I can get some real work done.

I agree 100%… I’d never have noticed it, especially because it was only locked, not stickied, so other threads rapidly pushed it off the front page of the forums it was posted in.

I caught it, but it was in view very briefly. A popup message would have been better, but I don’t know if the software supports that.
