Melted wheels-Missing Suspension parts

I know!

This is a problem we don’t hear of to often now. I acquired a Glue Bomb at this weekend’s Train Show. A car I have been looking for for a while. Jimmy Clark’s Lotus as driven at the “Indy” 500. Molded im BRG. Now the body is coming apart ok. The wheels hadn’t been glued together that well though, I had another problem.

They popped in off easy enough. BUT! When I attempted to pop them from said wheels the wheels stuck in a melty sticky mess. To the tyres! Now the tyres didn’t have so much as a scar on them. When I examined them closer the edges of the rims and part of the inner wheel depth as well as the back halves stuck and were like taffy when I finally got them apart.

In doing so and trying to seperate them from the car i shattered the Existing suspension components. Now, this normally doesn’t faze me.But the parts that broke were the Front Suspension shattered at the trailing arms and the King pins which totally disintergrated! The back was the same.

Now , bear in mind the only reason I took a chance was this was the original small Box kit minus the instructions. decals were on right but barely salvageable. But, more can be gotten for this 1/25 little wonder. Is there anywhere I can find missing parts that I need? There’s only one small scar from the tyres melting the plastic on the body, and that is a small spot where the rear suspension leaves the body on one side. I can fix that easy enough.

I had to ask because I can remake the parts from scratch if I have patterns. I can also codge something from Wire and Plastic. But I just thought I would ask. Heck it only cost me a buck and the only thing wrong with the engine is the exhausts were wrong because the original builder left the Cylinder heads off, They are still on the parts tree!

TB-I’m assuming that your kit is the AMT Lotus that has been recently re-released.

Indycals is making/marketing some resin parts & decals-here is the link:

Note that it shows ‘out of stock’-means temporarily out of stock-not out of production.

Hope you find what you’re looking for-I’ve been thinking about adding the new release to the stash.

Hi Bobbaily:

I don’t really know who’s kit this is. There are no, and surprisingly I do mean this, NO markings on the outside of the box, or inside either! There’s the usual name of the kit and graphics. There are no dates, Mfgr’s info or kit number anywhere!

The box kimda looks AMT, but it could be Aurora or Airfix.I doubt it’s Monogram, but the tyres have me thinking in that direction. They remind me of and resemble closely the solid rubber or Silicon? Tyres on Monogram’s “Black Widow T-Bucket”. This kit started out with real rubber and then changed as Monogram brought out more of this style kit.

Hi TB! Sorry for the delay. Here’s the photo of the wheels and tires that I have. Check them out and if you want them, I’ll send them to you.

Stay Safe.
