I don’t normally post anything here cuz my stuff usually sux. This one seems to be coming along nicely; knock on wood. It’s 1/72 Hasegawa Beaufighter mk.21 Green Ghost. Not really something I would have done but won it in a raffle a couple years ago and sat down one rainy day and started assembly. No research and just OOB. It turned out to be a super nice kit. This was my first use of pollyscale paint and tamiya tape for masking the canopy. The canopy is’nt quite up to par yet but better than I usually do. The pollyscale paint sure is nice but a little thinner than what i’m used to; usually model master; so there were a couple runs I had to sand and repaint. You can still see a couple spots on the wings (maybe i’ll just call it “weathering”). I also tryed for the first time to tint different panels to break it up a little, I added a couple drops of light ghost gray to the green. I also kinda misted that over the cowlings and top of the fuselage.
Your thread title says it all, and believe mt, it anyhting BUT sux! You have done excellent work thus far, and I’ll be looking forward to seeing the finished product! Thanks for sharing!
I don’t see anything about this build that sux! I like Beaufighters, don’t see many of 'em around here. I like your different colored panels, nice touch. Keep at it, I wanna see more pix too! [:D]
Looks good so far. I’ve got a Green Ghost Squadron on my stash so I’m interested to see the ups and downs of your build and hopefully get a few pointers.
The kit really is nice. the cockpit could use a little more detail, it’s got decals for insturments and side panels and a simple seat, no harness (the navigator station is just a seat in a pedastal). I used a little filler on the fuselage seams top and bottom, the wings fit perfectly. The exterior detail is crisp. The undercarriage and wheel wells are detailed enough for me.
