Me163S completed!

this is Academy’s 1/72 Me163B/S Komet built as the S trainer version. I marked the model as an aircraft captured by the Soviets after the war and used as a test plane till 1946.

Please comment![:)]

That is one of my favorite kits and I love the markings that you chose. I never knew that the russian’s Captured and used one of the S models. Now I’m going to have to go buy another one of those kits so that I can do it in Russian markings. Thanks… I think!!! [;)]

Wow, flippin Blimmin mate. I bet thats tiny. Ive built a 1/48th and that was small. I bet theres bugs bigger than yours. LOL. Love the markings. I didnt realise that the ruskies had one after the war either.

I too love the 163. I like the fact it was the only ever Rocket powered combat plane that ever saw service. And, unlike the jets of the 262, the rocket was fully throttleable. I think im right in saying it only had a duration of 8 minutes?

1/72? Yikes, that’s tiny! Don’t think my eyes could handle that little bird. Would probably need my Optivisor just to see the finished kit. Well done Jacob, thanks for sharing! [tup]

That’s not 1/72! That’s 1/144![(-D]

Wow! They actually used to put TWO people in one of those things???

Great paint job[tup]…but that’s all I can see!

Looks good Jacob, especially like the Ruskie markings.

Regards, Rick

Nice build Jacob, that is a very interesting subject, I have never seen a rushon 163

Whoa! Talk about a “hot seat”! That back seater must sit on top of the rocket motor!

Nice work on such a small subject!

yeah, it only had a duration of 8 mins flying time so it didnt really have a big effect on the war.

MattSix, I think the rocket engine was removed to make way for the second seat

Very nice work on the little rocket plane. I wasn’t aware that they made a two seat version of the thing.

Real nice job. i just picked up that same kit this week and can’t wait to start it. The one thing holding me up is the paint scheme. The Russian scheme was one of my final choices but since you beat me to it I’ll have to choose another.

I’m leaning toward Wolfgang Spate’s Red Barron scheme.

Nice!

Yeah, they removed all the power components to make way for the second seat. Good thing, too; with the Komet’s “explosive” tendencies, so to speak[swg], it would have been remarkably POOR (i’m not shouting, just emphasizing) judgement on the part of the Lufwaffe to put two men in these things.

Remarkable job on a remarkable plane, sir.

nICE WORK jACOB. It must be tiny I have the 1/48 S and it is small.

Thanks for the nice comments everyone![:)]
