Just sniped this one out on ebay after seeing Luftys build a short time ago. Started it tuesday.
THis is the PM boxing OOb except for some eduard seat belts. My one and only detail brush broke halfway through the cockpit so I had to use a needle, it actually works better for somethings.
I picked up some eduard masks as well which proved invaluable, the plane would never be getting done without them.
the fit of the parts is outstanding and except for some raised rivets? that seam way over scale the detail is great one of Promodelers best. School starts soon and cross country is getting into full swing so I wont have to much build time but I hope to have it finished by the 27th in time for what will be my first show.
Oh man. I hoped id never see another one of these. LOL. The only tricky bit i found was the Cockpit glass. Looks like you have that covered. Keep the pics coming. Im looking forward to seeing what one should look like.
Good progress yeti! I look forward to seeing more WIP shots, and judging from your previous work- you should do quite well at your first show. Good luck! [tup]
the nose clear piece was difficult to apply partially due to the fact that my fuselage halves were slightly warped, fortunately the cancelled each other out when together.
THe only place were putty was needed was a small amount on the wing-fuselage joints, and the rear shell ejection ports.
I am now hoping that the decals do not disintagrate like my last promodeler decals did.
I’ve got a bottle from Squadron, (they of the decal setting stuff) of decal ‘rescue’ solution, which is painted on the decal & allowed to dry before removal from the backing sheet…
Someone will prompt me with the correct name of the wonder stuff?
The decals seam to be OK, not great but they wont dissintagrate.
I got some time to paint this weekend, I will try to get a coat of future on tonight so that it can dry all week, but we will have to see, There is also a bit of paint chipping to deal with.
Nice paintwork, but bummer about the chipping. What are you using for masking tape? If you are not already, I suggest Tamiya tape. It has never lifted any paint on my stuff. HTH!
