As part of my three nightfighter project, this is Dragon’s 1/48Me 262B-1a/U1. I also got the Ta 154 (1/48 ProModeler kit) painted with RLM 76, but I didn’t have enough time to paint the spots. The squiggles on this bird took much longer than I anticipated ! I still haven’t gotten any camo on the Me 262 single seater (1/48 Trimaster kit) yet. At least I’ll have something to do tomorrow !
I tried to see how closely I could follow the pattern on the instructions. It’s off, but not by a lot.
The camo is Model Master enamels, sprayed freehand.
Thanks for letting me share the progress with you !
Thanks nicodemus, chukw, pingtang, Anthony, zeroenna, Steve O., jeff, and Jeeves !
nicodemus - the two that are part of this project are my 13th & 14th from the Trimaster/DML/Dragon kits. I still have five more waiting to be built ! The Me 262 is my favorite aircraft, and the Trimaster kit is my favorite to build.
chukw - the canopy is masked with Scotch Invisible (frosty) tape. The camo isn’t masked, it’s freehand.
Anthony - I don’t know who else is building 262s, but I’m currently building two (along with a Ta 154).
Steve O. - I had a little German when I was in high school (over 30 years ago !), but I have no idea what you said. All I can remember from that class was numbers ! (Geez . . . I’m gettin’ OLD !)
Jeeves - I chose this scheme because I don’t see it done too often. I also enjoy painting the more challenging schemes.
I saw a paint scheme very similar to that one on a He-111 in one of my reference books the other day. I think that’s spurred me to build that next with a “naghtjaeger” (sp) paint job. BTW, is greenfield in central or eastern Mass? My wife’s best friend lives inFramingham (they both went to Tufts.)
Thanks razordws, mpartric, lerxst1031, Rick, and Thad !
mpartric - I live vin the hills of western Mass. It’s along the Connecticut River, about 10 miles south of Vermont. Framingham is southwest of Boston, quite a ways away.
