I don’t make many models, 2 or 3 a year. I’d welcome any comments anyone would care to make on this please.

She’s a beautiful build ya got there! In my mind, the camoflauge mottle looks very well done. Kudos![tup]
Which kit and scale did you select? Depending on how my 109 turns out, i may decide to give this subject a shot too
Nicely done. That looks like Bar’s mount, “Red 13”. Looks like there may be a flaw on the right side decal of “13”…good camo…
Looks good. What kit is it?
It’s not the number of builds but the quality that matters. I only build about half a dozen myself in a year. It looks good from here. molt is hard to do and yours look great. I assume this the 1/48 tamiya kit?
Nice looking Sturmvogel. Colors look right and the weathering is not overdone - those birds didn’t fly all that much due to fuel shortages and marauding Mustangs.
I read that once the 'Stangs learned of their whereabouts, they would wait for the 262 to come home, then pounce on them at landing. The Sturmvogel was too fast in flight to catch, but was cold meat at landing approach. Seems less than chivalrous to me, but All’s Fair in Love and War, they say.
Thanks for the replies.
It’s a 1/48 Tamiya, straight out of the box apart from the wire aerial loop on the rear fusalage. I used Vallejo paints despite the Humbrol tins being in the picture.
Manstein, I think any mark on the decal is from the photo, I can’t see any on the plane when I look at it. I use ‘klear’ to coat the model, then use it again on a brush to settle the decals when wet. I never get any silvering using this method.
Once again, thanks. I appreciate the comments (good or bad, it’s all a learning process).
Looks good to me- very nice work! [tup]
Looks great from here. Very nice work on the mottle.

I know alot of other modelers do that too. Did you use microsol or anything like that on there as well?
Last time i used that stuff, i ended up ruining a couple of decals, and am wondering if maybe i don’t need that stuff after all
…a lot of setting solutions will wrinkle the decal initially, sometimes to the point that you’d swear it was ruined…trick is, as it dries it will unfurl perfectly…if you didn’t know that you might have mistakenly assumed the decal was ruined, as some bottles don’t warn you to expect it…here’s my 262 as flown by Maj Weisneberger of JG 7:

…old Trimaster kit…
Actually, i knew that would happen. That wasn’t the issue. And i think i may have mentioned it in a different forum, but can’t really remember offhand.
But for me, the problem was the setting time. I was working with really small decals, and after about 15 seconds or so, the decals would adhere prematurely before i was able to get them into place. After that, there was no moving em. That’s how i ended up ruining them[D)]
My knowledge of German aircraft is very limited, but the craftsmanship looks great, especially the paint job.

I don’t use any setting solutions. I apply the decals, when they are in place I use a brush with wetted with ‘klear’ to lift the edges. It sort of floats the decal on a layer of ‘klear’ if that makes any sense?
Nice 262 manstein
