me-262

ok which company makes the best me-262 (moderately priced)
I might do one to go with a school project on jet engines.

Lindberg makes a beauty… (snicker) I have heard good things about the Tamiya offering. definitely worth looking into. Good Luck [:D]

Tamiya’s 262 is a very good kit. I’d recommend it to you.

Bite the bullet and get the Tamiya kit.
It’s more expensive than most other kits, but you’ll have the best kit that’s made of the beast. Besides, it’s easier to get a good result if you have a better starting point, isn’t it?
Cheers

come on now Abrams step back into the light [:D] use the force think nice tanks[:D][:D]
262 there are Dragon ones being sold under Revell and Italeri(i think) thats are good and cheap but you cant go wrong with the Tamiya

The Tamiya kit is an easier build. The Trimaster/DML/Dragon?Revell/Italeri kit does have some fit issues. The kit under construction that I am showing here is a DML with a Verlinden detail set. The Trimaster kit, wuth white metal & photoetch is available from Squadron for about $30.00. This is my 6th DML kit, but despite what some say, it builds nicely if you take your time. The only bad thing I’ve heard said about the Tamiya kit is that the windscreen is narrow.http://www.squadron.com/SearchResults.asp?ScaleList=48&TypeList=1&ManuList=TV&Key=&Submit=Go

Thanks, I think I’ll go with lindbergh Tamiya. I was just looking on their site and saw they just relesed a clear me-262.
That would be awesome to show all the insides, but I imagine it’s pretty pricy

I am currently building the Tamiya 1:48 scale and really am enjoying it. A little putty for a gap when the fuselage is put together but other than that, it is great. Nice cockpit detail, nice gun bay and it has the little tow tractor included. It is pricey but you frankly get what you pay for. I also like their attention to detail. I have become a Tamiya fan after all thewe Revells and other things that require a tube of putty to just get it out of the box. The Tamiya ME262 is a great builkd. I am currently beginning to paint the completed plane. I am masking and getting ready for primer, maybe tonite as Roger puts the Sox down!

Hey M1,
I too built the Tamiya Swallow and believe me its a thing of beauty!!
I had mine posted here a while back. the only thing I can really say to watch out for is the construction of the gun bay area. More so the option of the closed/open gun bay doors.
If you are to pick the the closed option, there will be some sanding so the doors will sit basically flush w/ the fuselage.
Other than that I recommend this kit HIGHLY.
Good luck in your school project my friend.
Flaps up, Mike

If you can’t find the old Monogram kit (which is just fine except for the raised panel lines), then it’s Tamiya all the way!

Here’s mine:

well, I went with a Tamiya Me-262 (clear edition) got it off of Ebay for $50 bucks CDN. inc. shipping. thats pretty good considering that my LHS would sell it to me for $65

Have fun with all the injector pins on the interior of the fuselage - there’s lots of them.

Tamiya, no doubt no questions. It is a great kit!

got it today, your right, those ejector pin marks will be fun. maybe I’ll just leave them, instead of messing up the fuselage. by the time everythings inside I don’t think anyone will notice them.

Hi Chris,

Here’s a great reference link showing profiles of several Me262’s, so you can make your project authentic.

Take care,

thanks for the link!! what will be a good way to glue all the clear parts rogether? I don’t think white glue is strong enough, any suggestions???

I’ve got a Revell “Smithsonian National Air/Space Museum Collection” kit #4473. No box, but all parts plust TD wheels & mask. I’m moving to 1/48th and have a couple of 1/32nd kits I want to get rid off. I’m looking for T-28C, Trojan, F4F2-, Wildcat. Maybe we can work something out. E-mail me.

I’m no longer looking for one, I got one. (besides, I have no other planes in my stash) Thanks anyways.
