I’m attempting to free hand my -262. Things are going pretty well… I’ve run into some severe tip drying problems that are making me take a break to figure them out. It’s created quite a few problems on the finish.
Still- it’s going fairly well for my first attempt at a free hand Luftwaffe mottle. Heck- my first free-hand anything. The section around the office ended up pretty good- that’s the look I was going for, basically. I had some weird splatter problem just forward of the vertical stabilizer, and the tip dry problem prevented me from “spotting” the nose. I think it’s all fixable, though, and if I can get the rest of the bird corrected, I’ll be happy.
Heck, even if I don’t, I’ll still be happy. Just not with this. LOL
Fairly well? You are being to critical. Looks pretty good.[tup] Mottle looks real nice… a little finer edge on the wings and you can keep those “first time” comments for somehting else.[;)]
Jon…are you sure those colors are accurate?..Ok enough of that [:D]!
Wow Jon you just keep impressing with every build! Nice work! Ya know I still have one of these in my stash. I’ll have to wait to build it though. I don’t want to follow this act!
Yeah- I’ve still got work to do on those edges- that’s part of the problem I’m having with tip dry- it’s hard to control and get a fine line. I’m going to try correcting the wings with my Aztek- it seems to not have the tip dry problems, and does a finer line.
smokinguns3- It’s a Revell, 1/48 scale. It’s an older kit, but it’s actually the best Revell kit I’ve ever seen. Good fit, nice detailing- just an overall good kit. And with a 40% off coupon at Hobby Lobby, it was less than $9! I highly recommend it.
Hey Jon, you’re a butthead! You are making me feel like a weenie cuz i put my tamiya 262 in the bottom of one of my stash boxes cuz of the mottle.
But seriously, are you sure that’s your first attempt at a mottle? Positive? It looks fantastic!!! Great work!
P.S. I was just kidding about you being a butthead. You’re cool![:)]
No, it’s my first attempt. Funny thing is- it was easier than I thought it would be- give it a try! I practiced for a few minutes on the back of a folding chair, just making little dots.
Never wanted to be Butthead… always pictured myself as Beavis. [;)]
