This is a Lindberg Me-262 I bought at an outlet store for $5.00 mainly to use as airbrush practice for a German freehand mottling scheme.
Its RLM 83 dark green and RLM 81 Brown violet over RLM 76 light blue. and except for the hard edged RLM 81 on the wings it was done entirely Freehand using a Badger Krome.
The Lindberg decals were thick and yellow right out of the box so I spent some time making some templates and airbrushed the markings with stencils, except for the numbers and the coat of arms shield the latter was from the lindberg set and don’t look all that great.
I know I skimped on construction, but I will say I have less seams and gaps than the model photo on the front of the box. This kit was pretty simple, fit wasn’t all that good. the decals were terrible, the best thing I could say for it is it took paint pretty good, and it does look like a 262.
I know the marking are not accurate so I’ll just say this was a practice piece.
Oh and from beginning to end took 15 days. I think thats pretty much a record for me. I am a pretty slow builder most of the time…
Build looks good to me. I bet there are more of us “novices” (i’ve yet to ever string an antennae wire on anything) on here then anything else, dont feel bashful about your work.
BTW what company’s paint did you choose, RLM 83 seems to be a mysterious color…
Thanks Noah, I’ve done some antenna wires… and I’m not all that bashful as everything I do makes in on the net. LOL this is I think my 10th aircraft in the last 10 years, I do better with armor…
Anyways 83 is a mystery, so if no one knows the exact color then everyone’s model color must be correct. LOL
this aircraft was painted with Model Master Enamels. I like their wide range of colors.
Looks good. Thanks for sharing. Looks like the airbrush practice went well. Don’t worry too much about color. If its good enough for you that’s all that matters. Long live TLAR!!!
thanks Winetanker, I had the same problem I got one side to line up but the other wouldn’t
If I do another one I’ll just glue the guns to the inside of the fuselage using plastic shims if needed. I think that would fit a lot better…I glued all the movable bay doors shut… just looked a better fit that way.
