4th build, first time posting a build. I picked this kit up for a dollar.

ME-163 Komet
This kit virtually has no flashing but does have injector pin marks on a lot of visible parts. the kit also lacks detail in the cockpit and the pilot figure included is garbage.
I couldn’t find a date on the box or instructions but the decal sheet does include the tail swastikas. Instructions include four different paint schemes and I plan on using Vallejo RLM colors for paint.

I’ve got this kit in the same box as well. Great price you got it for! this kit is nearly as old as I am and was released originally by Hawk in 1965. Don’t expect too much detail out of it. Here is an article about the original kit: www.fantastic-plastic.com/ME-163%20PAGE.htm
A dollar!!! Awesome! Great deal, and what a great looking kit. I have a 163 also (can’t remember which company) so I will be watching to see how it goes together! Congrats and can’t wait to see the next round of pics!

A very good value for a 2013 vintage dollar… .
Much nicer decals than the ones i had in my 1960s HAWK kit.
A shame the kit no longer includes the fluorescent red “flame” that could be inserted in the rocket exhaust [:'(]
There was a fluorescent flame included in the V-1 kit, too. I had forgotten about them.
I still have my V-1 kit with the flame in the tail pipe in my display cabinet.
I had the same kit a few years ago. Planned on making a cockpit for it and never got around to it. Look forward to seeing you’re progress on the little rocket!
Interior painting is complete and windows are installed. When it comes to interior detail, this kit has none!
The pilot figure on the right is what came with the kit. I pulled a spare I had saved to replace Mr. Crap!
Also the decal sheet is so old, the decals crack as soon as you touch them. I found this out after testing one of the decals not needed. Perhaps someone has a way to recondition older decals? I foresee this being a real problem in the near future.
I have been told that if you give the decal sheet a coat of Future it can hold them together. I have no idea if that works but it could.
Could you possibly scan the decals and print them out to make masks and spray them on? You would probably get better results overall using painted on markings anyway, even if it means a lot of extra work.
I have the same kit with the same decal sheet. However, mine is molded in dark green plastic and is in the standard Testors one piece box…
I’ve had good luck using Microscale’s liquid decal film to save a few sheets. Just brush the film over the decals let it sit. But you really have to cut the paper right up to the decal it leaves a really thick film if you don’t.
I have decided to try Microscale liquid decal film. Considering I have some vintage kits in the stash, I will probably need a solution to the old decal problem. Most people speak highly of it from what I gather.
