Here is my recently completed MD-82 in Aeromexico Orange/Bare Metal livery from the 1980s. Feel free to give any feedback or critique. This is my first posted model so go easy on me! Hopefully the photo link works.
I split the elevators/tabs to simulate the MD80 as it is during taxi and ground operations with free-floating elevators. Also added engine inlet guide vanes and spray deflectors from scrap plastic.
Model Kit was from Minicraft
Decals from both DrawDecal and FlyingColors
Orange painted stripe was Vallejo Air Bright Orange, metal was AK Xtreme Chrome. Smaller parts were painted with Tamiya acrylics
I applied a clear finish coat comprised of Future/Simple Green mixture.
I understand all that and have seen the pictures . Did you build the dog too ? I wondered about that . I haven’t seen any 1-1 scale dogs in model form is why I ask .
Hey, thanks. I just found out about the simple green cleaner from reading online. It supposedly helps achieve a glossier finish than with Future alone. I mixed one part diluted simple green with three parts future. The simple green came in a concentrated bottle so I diluted it with five parts water before using. Overall I liked the result. Will continue experimenting in the future.
Adding simple green to Future changes the surface tension so it doesn’t bead up on decals. I use a mix of about 1/4 simple green / 3/4 Future. It has a green tint, but when applied on a model, its too thin to see it.
