May's 'misleading' cover

I have to echo the sentiments of ‘whitebiker’ in his post regarding May’s issue. In particular I was disappointed to see the coverage that the dot filtering technique got. This disappoinment was aggravated by the prominent ‘New Technique! Dot Filtering Weathering’ headling on the cover for what amounted to a sidebar to an article. I found that, when combined with the shortshrift the technique was actually given, that the prominence of the headline was misleading.

I think my frustration was further increased because, as an online member here, I have seen several well done, in depth threads covering that technique, so I think if FSM had wanted to publish an article about it, there is plenty of material and plenty of people who could have done it for them.

agreed i really dont think the technique was well covered at all. from the article i still wouldnt know how to do it .

but if you are a forum member you definately have a better awareness of how to use dot filtering .

maybe in the next issue they could print the links to the threads in the forums to show people how to use dot filtering.

I agree. I bought this issue expecting at least a few pages on this technique. Instead I got one stinkin’ page. Not worth the cover IMHO.

I am less than impressed.
