Maybe I didn't thin the paint enough?

Ok, I was painting with my AB the other day and everything seemed to be fine (I was using Tamiya acrylic, by the way). Then while I was in the middle of painting, I noticed that the paint seemed to be getting darker and and the texture was more coarse. I knew something was wrong, so I stopped painting and cleaned the AB. After the paint was dry, I touched it and sure enough, it felt kind of like 400 grit sand paper. But what’s weird is, it started out like normal paint; it went on smooth and looked a little wet, but then it changed to a rough, dry consistency. I’ve never had this happen before. Does anyone have any ideas why this may have happened (maybe I didn’t thin it enough)? [?]

sounds like a rather long paint session and the pigment settled to the bottom of the cup after a while? maybe you didn’t stir the paint long enough? maybe i’m wrong? later.

drying too soon? maybe lower the pressure, spray closer, or thin the paint more?

Ok, thanks for your help. I’ll try that.[8D]

It does sound like a long paint session and the pigments in the paint settled. Unless…and this is a long shot…the paint was curdled like old milk does. If you get a little vinegar near or in acrylic paint it will curl. Yeah…it was a long shot. Was it a hit or a miss?

Well, I wasn’t painting that long (or it so it seemed) when it happened. And I’m pretty sure I didn’t get near any vinegar, so I guess I didn’t mix it enough. Thanks for your help.[:)]
