Hi all. Hope you had a good Xmas. Heres a small project that i did over the holidays. I bought it off of Evil bay as i love these small beasties (Another to follow soon). It did come with a canopy in the open and closed positions but im afraid these really were toylike with awfull moldings. Maybe at some point ill attempt to make a frame myself and cover it with tissue. I didnt have any PE for it so i improvised here and there with off cuts from previous bits and bobs. Just before xmas i recieved Mig’s book F.A.Q, armed with this i attacked the weathering. Hope you like.
Thanks fella. I really enjoyed doing it and man is it small compared to my other stuff. I would seriously recommend Mig’s book to anyone who is trying to improve their weathering.
Very nice job. Always wanted to create one of these little guys. Only mine I would have wanted to put a flak gun on it. Seen a picture of one in the desert.
Nice build I always loved this little Italeri kit. I got the Mig book last year from Amazon.com had to wait 6 months for delivery, and it cost $50 U.S. and yes I think its well worth it.
I recently noticed on Migs website that its gone up to almost €70 plus postage.
Now would I pay that much, well I’d have to think pretty hard on tha one. But I will say that the book does put new angles on approaching weathering, …
Anyhoo… I’m with the Doog, Top notch weathering, congrats on a lovely piece.
Nice job! Interesting markings on this one—do you know what unit it depicts? I have the MiG book as well and it has some good tips…I got it when it was ONLY $45…lol…what scale is this?
One thing you might also want to consider is going back and painting the tailpipe a rusty looking color…heat rusted steel very quickly…
Doog, Garand, Moose, Terry [bow] Thx fellas. Manny, the kit is 1/35 and is tiny. Im afraid i dont know the unit it fought with but probably somewhere in France. Your right about the exhaust though. Like always, it looked fine till i photographed it and then it could have done with a little more. Glad you all liked it though. I did use the oil dot job on the panels and they came out sweet, to my eye. Shows that even on plain Grey paint it works wonders.
…Guy
P.s I bought the book for £40 here in the UK thats about $80 over there (Yikes)
Nice work on the softskin! Not sure about the 1st pic, but it makes it look like you’ve got tide marks around the rear decals, were they on the thick side given the age of the kit?
Cheers Bill. When i took the pics i thought the Decals looked a little shiney. This was due to a little too much gloss showing. It seemed not very noticable but as we all know the camera shows up all the things the eye ignores. And yes the decals were as thick as an album cover. (They were what CD’s looked like a few years ago, Kids)
Holy cow! That first pic, at first I thought it was something at Bovington (seriously). And I’m not even drinking! You did the oil-dot method? Outstanding!!!
To everyone who has taken the time to comment on this build, many many thanks. Jthurston, of all the comments i have recieved for everything i have ever posted, that one has to be the best ever. Cheers fella.
It really is not that bad of a kit. Your build looks great! I had one that I was working on. But unfortunatly, I moved it into the living room so I could work on it while I was watching TV. Left it out too long. Either the kids or one of the pets knocked it off and it got squashed [banghead] So now parts are lost and the rest is in the scrap box.
