I just picked up an 18" TOS enterprise and I need your help with accurizing it, I was checking out your old post but you just kinda… left it hanging. I’d like to do with mine what you did with yours but I will use some after market parts such as red nacelle caps for lighting. Any tips you could provide would be extremely appreciated. Thanks
Glad to help any time I can. I’m not sure if there is more to the project on my site than I posted but heres the link again:

This is an inbetween project for me and will be done someday. As I get more work done on it I will add it to the site. Most of the problems with the kit have been worked out and if you have any questions about something I did feel free to e-mail me at any time. Hope I can help with your project,
Matt
Thanks, I just took care of the B/C decks and trying to motivate myself to start sanding the grid lines. FUN, FUN!
Yeah those grid lines are a pain! So how did the B/C deck conversion go and are you planning on taking on those nacelles? Be sure to post some pics of your progress.
Matt
I just glued the B/C deck onto the saucer section, my razor saw wasn’t really co-operating so i got a few gouges but they’re filled and looking good, I felt the overall hight of the deack was too tall so I removed about 3/32 off of the bottom and made a couple of releif cuts on the bottom of the back so it would flex down to the hull. I plan on taking on the nacelles but I wanted to finish the saucer all at once. I want to show some pictures but they’re all bmp files and yahoo wont let me upload them because they’re not jpegs.
So convert them to .jpg files. There is a snazzy little soft out called “Irfanview”, works great and te price is good too. [;)]
I’ll look into it, im getting a week off (unpaid) so I have to be a little… resoponsible damn it hurts me to say that, and I have to… budgit. Man getting older sucks
Yeeeeeew! The B word.[xx(] All of the work I already have done and the work left to do was done using only the kit and styrene stock to see if it could be done. So over all the cost should be low. I did find the modifications to the sensor dish and will try to get that up on the site tomorrow.
Matt
Thanks, actually all I’ve put into this model is some glue and putty. Which I allready had, I bought the model with an ebay gift cerificate, I figured if I screwed it up I actually wouldn’t lose anything.
Is there any modifications to do to the underside of the saucer?
The over all shape of the saucer is a little off but there isn’t anything you can do to fix that short of turning a new one on a lathe. So long as you extend the neck so it meets the saucer correctly it should look fine. The thing to remember is that aside from the studio models of the Enterprise the effects guys used AMTs kit for other ships of the same class on screen. Over all it should make for a nice display piece.
Matt
Yeah, overall the only thing i see that sticks out on the bottom of the saucer is the width of the flat part going around the part. I may add some styrene to the outside of it to angle it more. I’ve shown my progress to some friends, they all seem pretty impressed. The saucer has actually proven to be easier than expected. I actually suprised myself with my skills.
When I was cutting down the nacelles my lines weren’t exactly perfect and that definetly showed up after puttying and sanding. I’ll try modifying the other nacelle and if I mess that one up, I’ll just have to find some pre-corrected nacelles for the kit.
Let me know if you find some. What did you use to cut the nacelles? Did you clean up and glue the cut back together before going to the next?
Matt
I was using a dremel, and I just put the kit up for a but due to frustration and the fact that I never want to see a peice of sandpaper ever again. Oh yes, I get to share the lovely news of my computer crashing so I wont be able to post pictures until I get a new one.
[:(]Bummer! I just went through all that about a month ago (frustration and PC crash) know how you feal. The cool thing is just think of how many more images you can store in a new PC[;)]
