Matilda

This is my first posting on this forum. I built this many years ago, painted it in plain desert sand, I think, applied decals, and left it at that. I always liked it, and saved it. Recently, I decided to try making it more realistic, did research, and here I am.

Matilda Mk III, in the African desert-I tried to show it as one that has seen hard action. In my military career, I never saw a pristine machine in combat, so that’s how I tried to make this look.

I welcome any comments on this, my first attempt at weathering a plastic model…

unfortunately, I cannot figure out how to add a picture!

For some reason I cannot get to the pictures. Most likely I am doing something wrong.

. I figured it out! Amazing! When I was in Vietnam, I saw only filthy vehicles, hard used. This is my attempt at showing such a machine. I think perhaps the filth and grime is a little overdone. My first attempt at weathering a model and trying to do washes, etc,

apologies for the double posting!

Your Matilda looks great! You asked whether we think it is overdone; I don’t believe it is. Given that your goal was to model it as a desert fighter, it seems appropriately done for the African Theater. Good job!

Welcome. Your Matilda looks great - a well used machine.

Looks cool! They did get beat to hell in the desert so she looks right!

Thanks for sharing with us!!!

You did a great job. It looks just like you said they looked when they were very well used. I think it is perfect.
