Masterkit Mercedes Benz 300SL - Final Build Pictures

Thanks to those of have been following my build thread, here are the final pics of the Benz racer 300SL.

I have to admit to having run out of steam a little on the build pics, but based on the views I was getting frankly I don’t think it was worth it (sorry to those who were following).

The final pics are awesome. The kit was utterly horrible. For those who want to see what I started with - its THIS monstrosity. Basically 20 parts, with details that had chipped off and worn. I nearly threw it away.

With a kit in this bad shape, I decided to go with a heavily modified racing version. The usual supplier (Splashpaints) gets a big thank you for the paint, in this case Miami Blue.

and a few pics of the (spartan) interior

Hello!

I see what you mean - that model is no good at all. Just a look at the driving wheel says it all… Good thing you have completed it though.

How did you do the black parting lines between the panels?

Thanks for sharing and have a nice day

Paweł

Thank @Pawel

the panel lines are done by first deepening the lines with a scouring tool and then after painting the top and clear coat, applying black panel liner. Very useful product for all sorts of applications, also for making chrome look more realistic (I used it in the front grill of this car in fact)

Yeah - I can see what you mean. That’s a real pig of a kit!

But your final result is actually pretty decent. Well done! It’s not easy to turn a real sow’s ear into a silk purse…but you did a darned fine job on an awful kit! I would have had a hard time using those beautiful seat belts on that nasty thing - but they make a difference!

Thanks for posting the pics! I love the color!

Well, I like the result. I think the finished result proves how a good and determined effort can pay off. I especially like how mud splashed up on the paint. Did the car compete in the Mille Miglia or Targa Florio? Very well done inspite of the poor kit quality.
