I recently ordered the Masterbox set # MB35317 which consists of 5 WW2 German infantry and one driver all seated. They look like they will work well with my Trumpeter SdKfz 7. I haven’t been able to determine what period the figure uniforms are from in the war? I’d like to model a diorama showing the early war years 1940 probably somewhere in France. Has anyone purchased these figures and/or know if they will work in this period?
Going to the Master Box site, they look to be somewhat optimized for the Opel Maultier or Blitz.
To my only semi-educated eye, they appear to be in early-war kit and uniforms. The MB site indicates that they have “additional” parts to allow you to use multiple sets to get a vehicle-full.
As wobbly memory remembers, when used as an artillery prime mover the SdKfz 7 had 8 truppen jammed in the back seats, with the section leader next to the driver.
Hi, Thanks for the info. I read somewhere else that a moddler had to remove the seat cushions on the SdKfz7 to get the Master Box seated figures’ feet to touch the floor. (he didn’t indicate what year he was recreating, however) I really do like that vehicle and may have to get another set of figures to fill it up prototypically. I’m sure I’ll find more reference photos on the interweb. Thanks again for the input. [:D[
Those are deffinetly early war uniforms.
The problem with putting plastic vehicles into polastic vehicles is that unlike real people, the figures behibds are not soft and neither are the seats of the vehicle, so they don’t conform to each other as the real thing would.
Ahh…just like my behind in my “golden years”…it doesn’t conform like it used to either hah!! To my untrained eye, it looks to me that the German Heer uniforms…M36,40, and 43 are all very similar with perhaps different collar colors?
There are more differances up close. The M43 was cut to reduce the amount of cloth, so no pletad pockets or scalloped pocket flaps. In addition, cloth quality was inferiour, often re useing old uniforms. So colour often varied.
Of course, the M36 would still be in use after the 43 was introduce and as time went on you would be more likely to see a mix.
Very nice. Thanks for the info…In addition to early Wehrmacht modelling, I’m finding myself kinda drawn to the Commonwealth forces active in North Africa about 1940-42. I’m liking the odd little AFVs and Universal Carriers…even the Matilda and Grant tanks…and everything about the forces operating then, from the 8th Army to the LRDG, I’m finding pretty unique and intriguing. It does however, seem that the varirty of models for the UK doing that period is a bit sparse. I’m pretty unfond of the old Tamiya offerings so do you have any suggestions in this pursuit?
I know what you mean about the lack of British armour, you don’t see much of it. Unfortunatly, my primary focus when it comes to armour is WW2 German, so i don’t know a lot about allied kits.
I know Takom are due to release a GRANT at some point. Given they have released modern British armour you don’t often see, this could mean their may be others to come.
AFV Club has a selection of Churchill variants, the earliest being the Mk III. Italeri did several versions of the Crusader, but they are rather old.
From what I’ve seen I guess you’re going to have befriend Tamiya again. They seem to have the best selection of Crusader MK III/VI tanks and Cruiser MK IV tanks that fought in France. As for Bren Gun(Universal Gun) Carriages or Valentines (late Africa campaign) I haven’t seen anything yet. But that was just HobbyLinc.

TY Bish, The Rich Models Bren really does look nice…I’ll be obtaining one soon. I have played a computer game called Combat Mission before…pretty good 3d line of sight targeting and armor stat modelling…anyway, I played the British side a lot and loved scooting my little Bren carriers around the battlefilds for scouting…however, they got torched up pretty easy by almost any kind of enemy fire…
Be nice to see you building that. And hopefully there will be more Britisharmour to come. Thecarrier is not somthing i would not want to be in when coming under fire.
The PMMS review of the Mk 1 Bren carrier is pretty thorough and indicates that it’s a pretty difficult model to build…lots of little subassemblies and tricky little steps…sounds like a fun challenge. Too bad I don’t see Rich Models carried by Amazon…at least not on the US one. Love that two day free shipping with Prime. They don’t have drone shipping perfected yet but when they do, I could order and receive the purchase before someone reads this post…hah!! (might be awhile before Amazon malkes that happen in Nevada)
oh I take it back…did find it on Amazon afterall…but the least expensive one ships from Hong Kong…no two day shipping on that!
I notice they are quite pricey. Sprue Brother has the Mk II for $50. The cheapest i found on e-bay was £24 plus shipping from China.
Yes…the ones I’ve seen on ebay are listed at about$38 with about $12 shipping which cooincides with your $50 dollar find. Both are shipped from Hong Kang. Amazon has one for slightly lower shipping cost so I might go with that. This is a pretty spendy kit for a small afv I guess but with lots of detail from the reviews I’ve seen. The price you have to pay now-a-days for something other than old Tamiya vintage kits I spose.
I saw the review on PMMS and it does seem to pack quite a bit so such a small subject.
Actually, when it comes to British desert armour, there is more choices than ever. Tamyia has new tooled both the Matilda and Valentine, while Italerie has had it’s Crusaders around for a while. In recent past we had Vulcan give us the Light Tank MK VI, and Bronco’s A13 Cruiser Tank.
This year we have more cruiser tanks (A9 and A10) released from Bronco, and a new company called Gecko.
