Masking with Sily Putty

In the July 2003 issue of FineScale Modeler Cookie Sewell has a short article on using Silly Putty to mask armor camouflage schemes.

Has anyone tried it? How did it work? Any reports? I went to my local variety store today and bought some. Thinking of using it to mask off this Panther II I’m currently working on.

Silly Putty! Apparently I can’t spill…I mean spell either

If renarts ever sticks his nose in here tonight … I believe that’s the method he used to mask his Type 97.

I’ve used it to mask a panzer IV. Works well for a hard edge camo design.
