I have heard several people say that masking with post-its works well. I had a question about this method. Since only the upper edge of the post-it is adhesive-backed, is this the only part of the post-it that you use to mask? Do you just cut off the rest of the post-it below the adhesive and throw it away? Seems like a bit of a waste.
I tried this method as well. To me, using the post-it is good for airbrushing panel line weathering effect since you don’t need to use masking tape for such a purpose [ that would be a great waste ]. usually I don’t cot off the rest of it since this cover the area which we don’t want to paint. There are times when I am too lazy to do masking, I just use post-it to paint the borderline of the figure uniform and the arm. My advise, buy all sizes of post-it that is available in the store - they could become handy one way or the other. Go for it and have fun.
Thanks, walamma. That makes sense. Thanks for your reply.
I generally use post-its for ‘fill-in’ masking. I mask the paint line with something else (tape, putty, etc) and then use post-its to cover any larger areas from over-spray. The extra ‘paper’ can help or hinder depending on what I’m masking. If it’s a problem, I just cut off whatever offends me.
