masking with Bare-Metal foil / removal of adhesive from clear parts

Hi everybody,

I used Bare-Metal aluminium foil to mask the canopy of the Special Hobby Finnish Fokker DXXI that I’m working on.

The foil is excellent for masking the multiple angles and curves of the windows. The only problem is when you remove the foil after the painting job. Quite a bit of the foil’s adhesive sticks to the clear parts. I just wonder what would be the easiest method of removing the adhesive residue from the clear parts without ruining them.

Boy, I cannot remember which forum, but this exact question was just asked in another forum (Techniques, maybe?) and there were lots of answers. Anyone else see that and remember which forum, so we can refer Sallamaa to that? Try Techniques, that is my guess as to where it is current.

Get a bottle of “Goo-Gone” from your local Wal-Mart or hardware store. It removes the residue easily and doesn’t harm plastic or pain

I saw someone over on a different website mentioned Goo-Gone, hardware stores will often have small bottles if you don’t need the industrial size. I have a bottle sitting on the shelf, but haven’t used it myself.
